Thanks for the clarification.
It felt to me like there was a "Don't use facebook" vibe.
No, we need facebook, that's where everyone is. And it's too bad we can't have one event for everyone because it's exciting to see the numbers grow, but it's just not doing what we need it to do, which is allow us to communicate with everyone who has said they would donate.
I really hope we can get everyone on board with this strategy, because I think one of the things we did in 2007-8 that we aren't doing now is to keep in touch with people signed up to donate with updates and reminders all the way through to the end of the moneybomb. The people signed up on the big FB event page for the bto bomb ONLY got a notification the day of the event and many people have
notifications turned off. I know I did and I didn't even realize it until I noticed that I never got any communication from the fb event page for bto at all.
So, if anyone sees someone going around promoting the moneybomb with just a facebook link, please comment and add the
www.supportthemnow.com link! The fb event pages should be for sending people to the sign-up webpage only. All promotion on fb like posting on groups and pages should use links to supportthemnow.com only.
ETA: Does anyone remember the daily emails sent out for Nov 5 and the TeaParty moneybombs?
Every day there was an email sent out updating everyone on the pledge count. It kept everyone engaged and aware of the moneybomb coming up.
