Hi, this is my first post. I've been reading about Ron Paul online and watching videos for quite some time, and wanted to share an idea I had. I've read through the various threads on the Support Them Now moneybomb, and seen the redesigns of the page. I noticed that the "Military's Top Tier candidate" graph is a static image. Also, is the the vertical banner pledge competition idea that was mentioned still going to be added? (found earlier in a thread)

I've checked the actual Support Them Now site but I don't see it live yet. I was curious as to whether there is still a plan to integrate this pledge competition leaderboard into the page. Also, I think that making a large vertical space open on the page would help make room for the Military's Top Tier graph, which is in a lot of ways more interesting and memorable than the pie chart, and potentially likely to support conversations and discussions.
But more importantly, as someone with experience in Photoshop and Flash animations, I think the Military Top Tier graph shows tremendous potential for the following:
Total Campaign Contributions by Active Duty Military...
Santorum's donation total rises on the graph (750 next to a 1k scale marker) with a picture.
...
then up to Romney (11,555 next to 10k-11k scale)
Each increasing amount donated seems to be significantly greater than the one before
then Obama
(I'd appreciate links to source files used in the current image, especially since they're scaled down or partially covered in the preview!)
-> then finally a rising bar that surpasses all of them to show Ron Paul's donation total. This is fairly simple to animate in a Photoshop-Flash workflow, merely scaling donation totals and pictures (making text appear and fade for each passing candidate) while zooming out on a large canvas (to show Ron Paul's totals at the end).
When I saw the pie graph, I just thought: We can do better than that. But I'd like to know if there's still plans for the webpage to be vertically expanded. Also, exploring file formats and browser display rules, an animated GIF or FLV seems the way to go. Some photoshop measurements- the general frame area for this seems about 720 wide 920 tall while the graph's final size (including text scale on the left) is 260 wide 820 tall. I think the GIF or FLV flash video would work great to show the Military Top (not just tier, but top overall) Candidate in a way that could help this spread better on facebook-
"Hey, I saw this cool graph," "Check out this animation", and link to "supportthemnow.com". (or at least this url, the date 11.11.11, Ron Paul at the end in text)
Of course, it might make sense to just have the animation as a smaller animated GIF showing, in essence, the height of Ron Paul military contributions out-competing everyone else, followed by, in large, clear text: SupportThemNow.com
If this is a generally amendable proposal (I've seen the discussions on this forum, and how the online grassroots seems to work)
what resolutions would be desired? I can make an FLV for the main site (higher quality, frame rate, more efficient compression) and a more easily spread-able animated GIF for other sites. Once I get the main sequence created, it's easy to resize and reformat it, given that I'm not making the design from the ground up each time, as in
Let me know what you want me to make, for instance, as a proof of concept initial animated work- most importantly what resolution you would like to see and where I can upload it for previewing (I've seen photobucket used).
My Flash / Photoshop animation experience is mostly self-taught, from Multimedia class to research project animations to original creative works. I look forward to applying my skills to this- I have Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium CS4 and experience in projects of this kind.
Here's hoping that more dynamic media than static images, but less involved than full videos, can help bridge that gap and build interest.
