Ron Paul Unveils Economic Revitalization Plan

I'm honestly concerned about this stimulus package.

First of all, it's obvious to me that Ron Paul is trying to water down his message in order to attract more voters. In my opinion that's totally unacceptable.

MP...I'm not going to attack you, so please read my response and think about this from a different perspective. I work with a large number of fiscal conservatives who have been turned off from Dr. Paul because of his seemingly "radical" ideas. Most of them are Thompson supporters. Talking about abolishing the IRS is great sound byte material, but at some point you need to provide some meat to the discussion. That's what this plan is doing for our short term outlook.

I have been spreading this plan like wildfire today at work and people who laughed and scoffed at Dr. Paul are now taking him seriously. We all know what the long term goals are, but you need to get elected in order make it happen! Putting out a message that appeals to the core fiscal conservative base makes it MORE likely that he'll be able to get in and abolish the IRS, bring troops home, etc. You need to get elected first and you also need to hold true to your principles. It's a fine line.

In this plan, Paul lists eleven bills that he has either sponsored or co-sponsored. So, the fruits of his labor in the House are a core part of this bill. To me, that's holding true to your principles.

Looks awesome. I just came from another forum bitching about how unfair this new stimulus plan is and am miffed people who don't work will get free money and my husband, who works his ass off will get none of his back. It's BS.

I know, this may be the last straw for me. I need to get the hell out of this shithole of a country. Not only that, but we're also bailing out the people who took out irresponsible loans be devaluing what little money I have been able to save in this environment. I don't want to leave, but I feel like they're coming after us middle class types full bore. They know which class is most likely to revolt and they're doing everything they can to diminish our numbers.

haha, finally. He needs to find a new candidate seriously.

Yeah, someone who thinks a libertarian anarchy is currently viable and can be implemented within 3 days with no headaches.

The problem is (and I think about this daily, as well) is that no matter where you run, the UN has you under its thumb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:United_Nations_Members.PNG http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_member_states

Remember this is what he feels he could get done. These are plans that have merit and are likely to pass. Many of the other ideas would have major opposition from Washington and therefore are pie in the sky at this time....

Ron Paul would only be the President not "the decider"

One step at a time folks...

Personally I would of liked to see rebate checks as part of the plan.

Pure scam. Don't touch other peoples money to begin with so you don't have to rebate. If they took 100 bucks from everybody and rebated it back after the year they would be collecting interest on minimum 100M x 100. Now amp those figures up and you see some fat cat(s) is playing with your money and making a bundle playing transactional insertion with the accumulated ledger entries. Then the rebate is not a rebate but a portion of the profit derived from playing with OPM and yer still ripped off.

Finally a real plan revealed by Ron Paul. I always thought that is what he needed to look like the other candidates. They always had these plans to go through after entering office, but Ron stayed mostly philosophical. Glad he finally came up with an actual plan...not that anybody knows about it because the MSM won't allow it (except on Cavuto yesterday ironically).

Cavuto has experienced the raw, overwhelming power of the R3volutionary fervor. He also is counting on being one of the few FOX clowns with White House access.

Economic stimulus plan ≠ foreign policy

For MP...

The plan released today is RP's economic stimulus plan. It is NOT a statement on his foreign policy.

Pulling the troops from Iraq is part of his foreign policy position. Stop confusing the two.

While I am not a fan, I don't feel particularly oppressed by the UN. I've traveled all around the world and this country scares me more than any other I've stepped foot in. It's nothing but rules, within rules, within rules in the US.

I think that the first tax that should be eliminated is the income tax.

It effects EVERYONE and not just those that invest.

I'm actually offended that Ron Paul would suggest eliminating capital gains taxes before the income tax.

It would appear that I'm the only person still talking to you.

Much of what the plan calls for is going after the low-lying fruit. This is stuff that can be done immediately.

You must understand that there are prerequisites to abolishing the Income Tax. You can't just stroke a pen, and have it be gone.

You have to do it in tandem with the spending cuts, otherwise, you have just increased the level of deficit spending, and dropped another pile onto the national debt.

Likewise, you can bring the military home from overseas, but before you do, you have to have somewhere to garrison those troops. I seriously doubt we have enough housing and barracks capacity to absorb all of the overseas forces all at once.

You have to bring home the troops you can absorb immediately. Then you have employ those troops in the recommissioning of mothballed bases in order to accommodate the bringing home of additional troops. Meanwhile, if the intent is to utilize those forces to shore up security along our southern border, you'll have to build new facilities in the southwest so that the troops can be garrisoned there.

All of Paul's (and our) long term goals will have to be accomplished by a series of intermediate steps. Some will be quicker and easier to accomplish. Some will have to take longer as a means of minimizing disruption, and that it is important to minimize disruption because the perception of 'crisis' can undo all that we are working for.

Don't be so short-sighted. This plan does not represent the overall Strategy... You're looking at tactics, which are simply the short term goals associated with achieving the overall Strategic goals.

Menthol Patch
Banned

This forum is brutal. I've never really cared about Menthol's posts as much as I was getting fed up with all the people responding to him. I think ignoring him would have been the more libertarian approach. But then this is the forum that accuses every first time poster of being a troll.

However, he suggests eliminating the corporate gains tax first and does not suggest immediately eliminating the income tax. He suggests a constitutional amendment banning the income tax. However, that would be a very long dragged out process.

Not sure why everyone is crying BANNED to Menthol, unless there was something I missed.

But in regards to elimination of the INCOME TAX, you MUST seek a Constitutional Amendment. As that is where the income tax gets its legality.

16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: Federal Income Tax (1913)

So you would have no choice but to pursue intermediate action to lower the burden on people. It took 70 years to get here it will take more than 4 years to get us out.
