Ron Paul Unveils Economic Revitalization Plan

Well, I did it, that's a milestone for me. Quite sad, but Menthol Patch had to be ignored. I am the LAST one to want to Ignore list anyone and the LAST one cry troll, but MP shortened and lit the charge on my powder keg. I urge him to go vote for George Phillies, the "real" Libertarian and to leave this forum for our equal benefit.

People don't want to hear about cutting the corporate income tax. How about OUR taxes? The american people are the ones suffering, not corporations

How many of the bills in this plan are Ron Paul's? I know at least a couple of them are. If anybody tries to steal this plan, he can thank them for supporting his plan and his bill.

Hopefully there's a major press release on this.

Answering my own question... these are the bills and authors. 4 of them are Ron Paul's.

HJ Res. 23 - Ron Paul
H.R. 2734 - Rep. Timothy Walberg [R-MI]
H.R. 191 - Ron Paul
H.R. 192 - Ron Paul
H.R. 4995 - Rep. Eric Cantor [R-VA]
H.J. Res 23 - Ron Paul
H.R. 3664 - Ron Paul
H.R. 1876 - Rep. Robert Andrews [D-NJ]
H.R. 2754 - Rep. David Hobson [R-OH]
H.R. 1049 - Rep. Scott Garrett [R-NJ]

(My responses are in RED.)

Menthol, I don't think you're being deliberately obtuse, but I do think you aren't reading between the lines...

You should NOT have to "READ BETWEEN THE LINES" of a PRINCIPLED candidate who supports freedom and liberty! Do you understand that?

This plan does all of the things you are looking for, but the language is crafted in such a way so that it cannot be reasonably attacked.

One reason I admire Ron Paul is that he is bold enough to say what is on his mind regardless if he is attacked or not. Principled candidates should say what is on their mind regardless if it means they are attacked.

How many times have you heard people say "I like a lot of what Ron Paul says, but I think he's dead wrong about Iraq?" I hear it all the time...

Too bad! Ron Paul is CORRECT about Iraq! If he loses votes because of his position on Iraq then so be it. You should NOT water down your message to get votes. That is being UNPRINCIPLED!

The plan says:

What do you think that means? It means exactly what he's been talking about all along, but it doesn't specifically mention Iraq, the buzz-kill for many of his potential supporters.

You are now openly stating Ron Paul is no different from any other politician! Other politicians say what VOTERS WANT TO HEAR! Ron Paul should tell the TRUTH.

It doesn't mean there won't be a rapid draw-down from Iraq. It means there will be a rapid draw-down from everywhere, but doesn't give his opponents ammo to use against him from his Economic Stimulus Plan.

They can still attack him on his Iraq position, but they can't attack his economic plan as a result of his Iraq position.

His economic policies are DIRECTLY connected to Iraq and to avoid mentioning Iraq is basically watering down his message TREMENDOUSLY.

Ron Paul is supposed to be DIFFERENT from other candidates. But this plan shows he is willing to COMPROMISE HIS PRINCIPLES like the rest of them.

This plan is solid, and in no way contradicts any of the things we know and love about our candidate.

George Phillies is NOT a "real" Libertarian. From what I have heard about him I don't support him one tiny bit.

I want to vote for Ron Paul! However, if he is intentionally avoiding talking about abolishing the income tax and bringing our troops home to try and have a message that will attract more voters then I will no longer support him.

Just remember if you put me on ignore you are only motivating me to continue discussing this topic all night long. Of course you will not see my statements so you will not be able to respond to me, but I will be able to respond to yours! :-)

dude stop flaming the thread, ive never ignored anyone, but seriously you have gotten your point across.

same here, i have to jump through sooooo many damn hoops because of SOX regs.

Don't mention that word to me EVER!!!

I have wasted hundreds of hours on complying to WORTHLESS regulations from SOX. In fact I've got an email request burning up my inbox about a bunch of things I need to have done by Friday related to SOX.

AAGH!

Regarding the Revitalization plan, it's awesome!

And I wish RP would have released it only a few minutes before the debate in order to prevent Huckabee from copying it word for word.

By tomorrow Mike will have a big 'X' around Ron Paul's name and he'll have the entire plan pasted on his website. Since he's broke and can't afford a developer, he'll have to find an volunteer IT intern to eventually delete RP's name and insert his.

People don't want to hear about cutting the corporate income tax. How about OUR taxes? The american people are the ones suffering, not corporations

As the corporations suffer, so suffer the American people. Every dollar that flows out of corporate pockets cannot be use to hire more people, make more capital investments, or expand into other markets.

I'm all for reducing or eliminating the tax burden of the individual, but there's certainly no reason not to support a reduction in corporate taxes too.

There were several "common people" tax cut measures listed in his plan including elimination of the income tax.

I think that the first tax that should be eliminated is the income tax.

It effects EVERYONE and not just those that invest.

I'm actually offended that Ron Paul would suggest eliminating capital gains taxes before the income tax.

As a small business owner, I can only dream that Dr. Paul gets this through. I paid in nearly 40% of my entire income last year in taxes and fees. Being self employed you pay double what others pay along with a 28% tax bracket and then state fees etc. I made a little under $48,000 on sales of nearly 4 million. Without taxes, I would have taken home nearly $80,000. With our local schools sucking so bad, I spent $12,000 sending my two girls to a private school and I dont get any tax credits toward it because I am supposedly middle class.

They talk about giving to the poor to give them hope. What about us small business owners who spent almost 9 years of going to college at night to earn a degree, busting our ass 90+hours a week for 11 years to only have my hopes and dreams stolen by politicians in order to get re-ected. I cant even look forward to getting a decent inheretance because my parents are taxed in their investments and then I will get taxed when they die.

My only question is, Am I an idiot for trying or should I just give up and allow the nanny state to make my life easier?
