Ron Paul: Willing to Help Elon Cut Government

I said this in the other thread, but...

The Department of Government Efficiency has 2 heads!!!

Orwell would be loving this!

Am I the only one who noticed that the acronym is the same as the Doge meme coin that Elon Musk backed? A new government agency to make other government agencies more efficient.

Elon was making fun at the DOGE coin connection. He thought it'd be funny to do that. Which is why I'm wondering if putting 2 people at the head of the department isn't also part of the joke?

Ron Paul is all about outreach and education and it’s wonderful that his name is being promoted.

But, my concern is, these just turned over night “libertarians” are quick talking billionaire technocrats who I don’t trust one bit.

Ron has stated during conversations that he doesn’t know anything about digital technology or crypto. If his name is used by these technocrats while they are rolling out nefarious implementations, it could potentially drive a spike into everything Austrian and the true meaning of capitalism.

I hope that Ron will consider having folks who understand such technologies who are actually on our side advising him along the way.

Yes the meme has been posted a few times in some other threads, but appreciate the updates on his communication with Vivek, I hope Ron Paul is able to get involved with this project as much as he is able to.

Well yes, that's definitely what they named the department after, I think Elon meme'd the entire department into existence.

If they are able to cut $2 trillion from the budget like they claim, what they really intend to do is make the economy more efficient and get the government out as much as possible.

I don't know why people here of all places keep complaining about this. It is certainly better than the alternative, which would be Kamala to add more money to the budget. The media and the establishment hate it and are attacking them. I think they are doing something right.

I'm pretty sure real estate investors in DC are panicking at this point.

Nope, you’re not the only one.

Hey libertarians, let's keep complaining about this guy some more!!

Sometimes libertarians are their own worst enemy.

All that needed to happen was create an Audit executive committee of some sort. People are rightly laughing at a government efficiency department that has 2 heads and expands number of Departments

Ummm....newsflash. Kamala Harris isn't going to be president. So the "Well this is better than Kamala" argument is dated at this point. If Trump follows through, for example, on his promise to give the police MORE immunity, it won't automagically become "pro freedom" just because "Kamala would have done something worse." Same for if Trump follows through on his promise of mass electronic surveilance in the name of border security. Is Musk going to push to end government subsidies that benefit his companies? Somehow I sincerely doubt it, but we'll see. As far as finding things to cut from the budget? Rand Paul does that every freaking year. Actually getting the cuts done? If that happens, great.

It is my understanding that the department is temporary and meant to last only about 18 weeks?

It may be a department in "name only" due to wanting it to be named DOGE.

I think cutting spending is by far the most important thing. We are on the path to hyperinflation if we don't cut spending. Normally I'd say there's a 0% chance that spending gets cut, but I'm giving it a slightly higher chance this time. Trump is a lame duck president and he's got some people around him that seem to know how critical spending cuts are.

This is fascinating to me. On the one hand history will tell you they're more likely to go on a spending orgy, but on the other hand I don't think I've ever heard so many people talking about spending cuts.

When do they do the budget? I feel like it happens early in the year so we won't have to wait long to get an answer to this.
