indirectly is not enough....you could go on to say..well, my employer pays me so he vicariously pays my taxes... that is retarded logic.
whoever's name is on the property tax bill... which usually is the home owner, not the bank.... has the right to vote.
I could possibly agree on a right to vote in regards to property issues if you are a renter, but what would home ownership have to due with my right to vote on, say, a municipal firearms law? My state and the federal constitution guarnatee my right to bear arms - yet you would say I could vote on that issue only if I am a property owner?
And, while I do rent due to a divorce just outside Philly, I do own a vacation home outright in Nantucket, MA. However, my permanent resdience is where I rent (for the time being) outside Philly. Plus, I used to mortgage (own) a home in the township where I now live. Hell, if I don't have to pay taxes where I live now due to being a renter and yet I still own a nice vacation home on paradise island, I'll take that. My homeowners insurance just jumped on tyhe nantucket house and I could use the extra money.
