Ron Paul & B. Frank will Introduce Bill Thurs. 2 Decriminalize Marijuana at Fed level

Hemp production could be a billion dollar industry in this country, wouldn't you think? I've read a few articles from hemp advocates, but haven't looked at numbers or anything.

Hemp is a very high value crop. I don't know the numbers, but hemp products are of high quality.

What is Ron Paul's position on that? Simply ending the Federal Role in drug matters doesn't mean legalization. It should be a matter for the states.
Perhaps Ron Paul would want these things legal on a state level?

"Congressman Paul, is it true that you support the legalization of COCAINE AND HEROINE?" <<< How many times have you heard them ask him this? And he seems to be doing fairly well answering the question. That being said, I don't think this bill is going to hurt his chances for the nomination all that much. When everyone is asking him about heroine and cocaine, pot becomes really not that big of a deal.

Someone on another forum I'm on posted this. Makes sense:

Billions of dollars wasted every year on enforcement, prevention, prosecution, and incarceration, and the government wants to cut pensions and medicare before they gut the DEA and the war on pot? Then you bring in lost tax revenues and real taxpaying jobs created by legalizing the business, and you would have to be a f'ing moron not to pass a legalization law.

When people understand/believe that this will help to tackle the debt problem and create jobs, then it will pass.

No, those hard ass drug warriors, terror, etc., aren't necessarily tea partiers. They could like Romney, or Santorum, or Cain.
Bachmann should take the tea party position here. She's against it on a state level. States should decide. The core of the tea party is limited constitutional government.
Bachmann would lose quite a few of those. She can explain the bad vote to social conservatives better than she can explain it to tea party conservatives.

he will not lose 1 vote on this, and will gain some who may not have turned out otherwise, or would have voted for Johnson. the hard ass drug warriors, terror warriors , neo-cons are going to vote for Bachmann. just as feminists voted for Hillary; Obama won because he expanded his base, not by taking Hillary voters. there is a lesson there.

Every independent poll that's come out.

First, by saying “every”, you are instantly refuted. I just finished showing how Rasmussen certainly didn’t include drug prohibition on their issue-list. Would you like to re-state your claim?

Second, how do you know that most folks who are concerned about jobs and the economy don’t also SMOKE MARIJUANA??

So let’s reword a survey:

Which of the three is most important to you:
1) Jobs.
2) The economy.
3) Staying out of JAIL.

I’d make a wild guess that number three would be on top of that particular survey.

Ron Paul winning the presidency will do nothing for long term prospects of liberty if we cannot get people to accept these ideas. He should be as principled as possible in spreading the message to educate people.

I also think people want somebody who has a principled philosophy. It is very refreshing in a sea of lying, spineless politicians. Many people do want to see radical change.

I think I'm coming around to your view that it is best for Ron to be as principled as he can for 2012.

I dont think Ron shoud back off from 'controversial' issues one bit. That's what makes him who he is and why we love him--a principled man with cahonas the size of Texas. Whether folks agree or disagree with him on an issue, they still admire his authenticity.

it might hurt in Iowa, but it will help in NH and other states; might not even hurt in IA; the religious nuts are going to vote for Bachmann anyway and this forces her to take a stand on it. which will paint her into a corner. did all of you with negative comments think Ron is playing chess while you are playing checkers? this could be the checkmate issue for Bachmann

You know, I am pretty darn sick and tired of Christians being referred to as "religious nuts". Especially since Ron Paul is a Christian, as is Rand.

I know you know, because I posted it for you before, that Dr. Paul has been working hard in Iowa with Christians. So, for you to turn around and bash them is pretty stupid. Don't you think? Especially considering that a large percentage of voting Republican ARE CHRISTIANS.

Do you really want to run them off from Ron Paul?

guess you assume all religious nuts are christians.....I know many religious nuts from all religions. There is no reason that christians cannot be religious nuts. Nutty people have flocked to religions(all of them) since the advent of religion. There are also nutty agnostics and atheists as well.

Anything who thinks Ron Paul shouldn't be Ron Paul in order to get elected has no understanding of Ron Paul. Fortunately, Ron Paul not only understands Ron Paul, but is pretty darn consistent at being him.

cindy was referring to the drug/culture warrior Santorum/Bachmann/statist types, not all Christians.
