Ron Paul & B. Frank will Introduce Bill Thurs. 2 Decriminalize Marijuana at Fed level

Anyone who proclaims that Paul is pro-drugs is mischaracterizing his position. He wants the federal government out of it. That does not mean the states cannot legislate it themselves. I strongly suggest you stop suggesting otherwise, lest you drive off even more Republicans from voting for him.

Come on LE, we've been over this many times.. Philosophically Ron Paul believes in legalizing cannabis at every level. I won't go so far as to say he encourages it's use (even though he has admitted it is an effective medication for some people), but he does absolutely believe it should be legal at the state level and people should be able to control what they put into their own bodies.

Barney's finally doing something right. For those suggesting this is bad strategy for RP with regard to the primaries: what is the alternative? There's going to be a vote and he will be on record one way or the other. Would you want him to vote "NAY" on this bill? That would contradict his positions and he would be attacked for that as well. Abstain from the vote? Not be a sponsor?

The folks in here who want to turn Ron into some mainstream Fox GOP'er while there are all ready five others vying for that spot in the Primary would only cause Ron to fall in the low single digits. People vote for Ron not because he is like everyone else, but because he is the only person who represents freedom and individual liberty in the race. Why on Earth would they vote for him over the other people who are 'more electable' and running on the same rhetoric? Have some brains folks.

Pick a maximum of three main themes and hammer them relentlessly:

1. America's safety (end the wars)
2. America's taxpayers (balance the budget)
3. America's jobs (rescue the economy)

Pop quiz: Which candidate won the Democratic nomination in 2008?

a. The candidate whose theme was "hope and change".
b. The candidate whose theme was “Let the conversation begin,” then “Big Challenges, Real Solutions: Time to Pick a President", then “renewing the promise of America”, then “In to Win”, then “Working for Change, Working for You”, then "a new beginning."

RP was just on Kudlow talking about the bill, and he DESTROYED any argument against legalizing it at the federal level. I don't have a tube, but I'm sure one will be posted soon.

Looking forward to it

It would be a great thing to do if we weren't trying to win the Republican Presidential nomination...

Why does Ron Paul manage to shoot himself in the foot at least once every week? The mainstream that is moving towards our side may be turned off by a bill such as this.

I suspect it wasn't his idea but to turn it down would be in his mind to fudge his principles. And he's said all over that the feds shouldn't be involved, and the fact is, they shouldn't.

Principled integrity for the win.

I faceplam at some of these comments. If there is any chance of decriminalizing Marijuana, he should put the bill forth, regardless of what it means for his campaign. Fuck folks, people are already aware that he is libertarian, he doesn't hide it and can't hide it. Shame on those who suggest he do otherwise.

it might hurt in Iowa, but it will help in NH and other states; might not even hurt in IA; the religious nuts are going to vote for Bachmann anyway and this forces her to take a stand on it. which will paint her into a corner. did all of you with negative comments think Ron is playing chess while you are playing checkers? this could be the checkmate issue for Bachmann

Are you kidding? Give a monkey index cards with "Ron Paul" "Barney Frank" and "Dope" on them and it could write an attack ad in under a minute.
