We have no idea about trump being a weak or strong candidate.. we have yet to have 1 debate... Trump has yet to set out a vision for us! People have NO IDEA what he is running on. He has been a 1 issue guy so far apart for all the videos explaining his horrible positions. David do you seriously think that most voters will fall for this guy? Do you think they will ignore Hillary donations and flip flops on SO MANY CORE positions??? How in the world is anyone that gets this information to think that trump had this sincere change of heart (sniffle sniffle) instead of the obvious change of positions since he is running for office. Just like Santorum, Romney, Huck, etc. becoming conservative magically right before an election. Come on man, this is so comical. This is the RonPaulforum partly because of the consistency. TRUMP HAS NO CONSISTENCY PERIOD. That cannot be disuputed

I don't trust any of them or the system or the people at this point. We can only hope at this point. But one thing we see with Trump that we don't see with any other candidate since Perot is a self-made man who is tough and resilient.

I'm still digesting his material, but his issues include the border (regulated immigration), defense (not imperialism and not world policeman), fair trade, a more 'conservative' SCOTUS, quid pro quo IF we must leave our troops in foreign nations (but he indicates he wants to bring some home), a respect for sovereign nations and a sovereign US. And he's the kind of guy that will at least give it a try IF he means what he says.

And this is an interesting predicament he's in. He's a businessman -- not a politician. His credibility is on the line. His positions are in print. He craves respect and honor for being successful. Just today he said, "It’s very hard for a very successful person to run for political office — especially for president ... I get that now more than anything."

Do I have faith in him or any other candidate? No. But I want a fighter in the WH because only a fighter is going to be able to attempt to reverse the globalist policies of open borders, 'free' trade, global war (imperialism) and banker bailouts. If he could do just that, then it would be a good administration. Do I believe he will try? Why not? Others will believe other candidates will try to do what they say they intend to do.

I would like to see a TRUMP - PAUL ticket because Rand could learn a lot from Trump and Trump could learn a lot from Rand. And I seriously don't believe after watching how the establishment handled Ron that Rand will be treated differently. Without Trump, Rand will be shut out. Trump has the brashness necessary to grab the debate mic and say, "Mr. Green, I paid for this microphone." I don't see Rand doing that.

Trump isn't going anywhere because the social contract has been obliterated by the usual suspects. As a result, civility or verbal politeness is actually viewed as a liability.

I second AuH20's opinion. The paradigm shift that is occurring in this country and in the world is not to be underestimated. Zbigniew Brzezinski speaks of the global political awakening. People all over the world are awakening to the game that has been played upon the masses for millennia. And some fundamental changes have occurred in the ability of the common man to affect change.

The establishment has been willing to kill to preserve its power and its selections for leadership. Trump was very concerned today at the border for his personal safety. He expressed it several times. It makes one wonder why he would put himself into this position simply to be a ringer for any other candidate as some argue.

That a Perot or a Trump could have enough wealth to run an independent campaign, and that an awakened and angry American populous could somehow elect an anti-establishment POTUS must be just as terrifying to the establishment as it is unbelievable to the jaded and cynical electorate.

The world is going into a new age. Old America is no more and the New America may in no way resemble it in just a few short years. To save any part of our past culture, values, liberties and standard of living will take radical people behaving radically and outside of the rules imposed by the establishment.

Diplomacy is for the establishment under the establishment's rules. Trump isn't communicating with the establishment. He's communicating, just as Ron Paul did, to the politically awakened and economically shaken, in a language and tone that is actually energizing a base very similar to RP's. Democrats are listening to him as well. We've already seen several come to the podium and endorse him out of their personal grief and tragedy.

David you obviously have been convinced that Trump is as good as Rand. You have the right to this belief, however, I cannot comprehend it... Trump has one of the worst records in the field. That is non-debatable. If your best argument against his record is "they are all fakes" and "the gop continues to elect those who are getting rid of obamacare so why would it hurt trump" then there is nothing I can say to you.

I urge you to watch the videos of Trump explaining why we need eminent domain with stossel. I urge you to watch his statement on why the wealthy need to be taxed more. If you can continue to hold your head up high and envision yourself checking the box beside his name, more power too you. I highly doubt you will get that chance unless you live in an early state if trump even makes it that far. I am disappointed after these last few weeks because no one has learned to research people for consistency. However, I do not worry because the truth will come out and trump will crash and burn. I could never vote for someone who has had these positions he has had. The founders would have rolled in their graves listening to trump.

Our founders would have rolled in their graves hearing any of them, and I'm not happy at all that this is the best we can do, but this is what we have to work with.

eminent domain: Are any of the candidates, including Rand, advocating getting rid of eminent domain? I don't think so. As long as power is distributed by the grid and as long as money rules government, there will be eminent domain. That's just reality. Do I like it? No. But if my choice is between fighting to secure the border and fighting to end eminent domain, I'll fight to secure the border because that's achievable. Same with trade. Same with ending foreign wars. Ending foreign wars is actually more achievable than ending eminent domain at this point.

And, no, I don't believe Trump is as good as Rand. And Rand is not as good as Ron. But Trump, in my opinion, is electable because of his independent wealth and his attitude to fight to win. Trump is at least as good as anyone else in the field besides Rand. I think they could make an acceptable team under the circumstances, but Cruz is working hard to position himself as Trump's running mate.

I didnt realize that first debate is in 2 weeks. Why is no one preparing money-bomb?

I have been on this forum a long time now. I wasnt here when this place was beehive of activity during 2007-2008. During 2012 it wasnt that actie place either. There were hundrets posting in "Bestest picture thread ever" but less than 20 working on money-bombs(3-5 really engaged and rest spending little time on it). In 2013 and 2014 whenever I asked why are here no activist threads people would tell me wait till next election and first debates, or they would get insulted and tell me to go away or "why dont you do it"...

If Trump makes it to the general election, my guess is that he will win easily. If there is an economic crisis before the election, it would be a landslide.

Guys... The first two states... IOWA and NH is all that matters right now. The national polls are meaningless. Rand has got an extremely solid chance to win 1 if not both. If Rand can win Iowa it might be game-over. That is what the focus should be on.

I'm not getting the sense that there's any kind of buzz for Rand in Iowa or NH like his dad and some of the other candidates have. If the caucuses were held today I'm not sure Rand would even place in the top 5.
