How to Boost the 18-29 Youth Vote, Guaranteed

We need to focus first on getting students properly registered to vote before the voter registration deadlines. Every single supporter needs to know the rules and deadlines for their state so you can help others if they have questions. Check out this link to learn about your state:

Also, the states listed in the OP are "no excuse, IN PERSON" early voting states. Most of those states (not all) also allow you request absentee ballots through the mail without any excuses.

There are three states that do not allow in person early voting but do allow you to request absentee ballots without excuses: California, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

There are a couple ways we can take advantage of early voting. During early voting periods, we can either offer to drive students to the early voting sites OR we can have them fill out requests for absentee ballots, which will be mailed to them. Regardless of which method is better, we need to have a strong presence at the college campuses during the early voting period, especially the ones that are open to anyone registered to vote.

You can find the forms to request absentee ballots here:

MUST read info in his post there...should be stickied!

Check your state today! Some states have their deadline for registration well before the election!

Great post Tsai!

1st question) Is this legal??

2) How are these votes counted? & When are they Counted? Could they be manipulated? & Do they reflect in the tallies that the MSM shows?

3) If these are not reflected in the Media numbers listed at the end of the voting day in each state could this somehow effect the perception to Undecided voters that Ron Paul is losing traction??

Remember most undecideds & the GOP hardcore base want to vote for a "Winner"; I am only asking these questions because the grassroots has a track record of getting an idea that on the surface sounds "Really freaking cool & effective"(ie SuperBrochure direct mail campaign) without thinking about all of the consequences & reprecussions.

I think if this can be done & is legal & won't be seen or displayed in the tallies as a loss of support, then do it; I don't think we should discourage any voters from going to vote on election day but maybe try to differentiate between supporters that Plan on going to vote vs supporters who aren't planning on going out to vote.

Maybe we could do a survey with a 1-5 rating. 1 Being "Nothing will prevent me from voting for Ron Paul on Election day", 2 "It would take an accident or 4ft blizzard to stop me" 3 "Depends on what I have to do on election day" 4 "I might make it but possibly not" 5 "I love Ron Paul but probably not voting on election day"

or something along those lines

Lets figure out all the details before we just start going crazy on this idea

Great idea. Someone needs to organize and do it in those states. It's that simple.

What is the concern here? These states made the law that says anyone can vote early. Some states allow early voting and some states don't.

I understand absentee & early voting is legal; But is a coordinated campaign to get people to early vote or vote absentee legal?

We're not a coordinated campaign, first. We're concerned citizens that support a candidate.

Second, far as I can tell yes it is. It is until someone tells me it's not and that someone has the power to put me in jail AND can cite the law.

IMO we've played by their rules long enough. Should be illegal what the MSM is doing but it's not. So f them. Do our thing, get our people out our way.

I can' t believe the turn out of the s.c. 18-29 year olds is in the low single digits from the exit polls.

It's certainly low or below average, especially for Paul supporters. It puts even more urgency on this proposed outreach drive to get young supporters though early voting. Doing it will give us much more positive control over obtaining a higher turnout, than just gambling on them to go to the polls.

Vermont's early voting begins Monday, January 23 and lasts all the way until the actual primary on March 6. This is the LONGEST period of any state for early voting.

Vermont is also an open state and the deadline to register to vote is February 29. This gives us plenty of time to get students registered to vote and possibly vote the same day.

Here is more information on Vermont's early voting:

BUMP...

Every person who is campaigning door to door for Ron Paul should be given "Absentee vote form". Then when they see that person would vote for Ron Paul give them that form and move on. Also all those who are identified via phone from home as Ron Paul voters that will not go and actually vote should be sent these forms.

I am suprised there is no buzz about this thing. Is campaign noticed? Are people on the field noticed? Anyone?

I remember during the 2008 elections, I was finishing up college and I over heard some students saying there is no way they'll vote for anyone but Obama. They didn't like the Republican neocon warmongers, homophobes, and bigots.

I think the youth are craving for change more than anyone else in the country. The youth are sick of trillion-dollar wars that we will end up paying for and the declining economy. We need to get the youth out to vote.

Ron Paul does the best amongst the youth:

While there's no real bad idea here, I like the idea better of having people fill them out as a group...that way you know they're doing it and it's more of a "hey my friends are going so I guess I will too" kind of thing. But having absentee ballots on hand certainly doesn't seem like a bad idea.
