Unlike you, I watched the entire 45 minute explanation of the endeavor and watched the original 30 minute Walt Disney Epcot explanation that Beck based it on. Stewart's framing of "Independence, USA" is a terrific joke, but it has no relationship with Beck's vision. Stewart, if you saw the entire DailyShow sketch which was not in the link you gave, was lumping Beck's theme park in with other libertarian communities like The Citadel. The two are nothing like one another. Beck's "Marketplace" is evocative of Disney's "Main Street, USA"; he's not organizing a community and saying, "all the business owners go here but no big box stores!". The whole thing is literally just a rehash of Disney's original EPCOT (the one that never got built) except with a libertarian historical slant. You don't understand all this, because you don't do any research. You just spew Beck hate. I am much more pointed and accurate in my Beck hate which makes me more effective. You, by contrast, lose all credibility.

I'm not worshiping him. I have tons of complaints about Beck. But you're right that I shouldn't let all the pea-brained Beck-bashers get under my skin (even though every fucking minor mention of Beck becomes an invite for Beck-bashers like you to completely destroy a thread with nonconstructive, vulgar, and often baseless attacks). I just think people like you completely undermine the libertarian brand and the libertarian pursuit of truth and I'd prefer you kept your mouth shut rather than make Ron Paul supporters look brain dead by association with you.

I think Rand Paul would make an excellent President but that doesn't mean I'm happy with his endorsement of Romney or his sanctions on Iran. It's not all or nothing with me.

So were you equally critical of Amash when he came out in favor of Iran sanctions and became a co-chairman of Arab Americans for Romney? I think people hold a double standard for Rand just because of his surname.

I have to disagree, here. I don't think we should give folks like this rhetorical cover. I mean, I get that they quote-unquote see it differently, but that doesn't mean we should agree to disagree, necessarily. If I call myself an african-american female, even though I do not possess at least one of the key characteristics of being an african-american female, would you just say, "okay, you're an african-american female... even though you're a white dude"? You'd either consider me terribly misinformed about what it means to be an african-american female, stupid, or insane.

Beck can say he agrees with libertarians on a lot of things, but he can't call himself a libertarian; or at least we shouldn't give him rhetorical cover when he does. Again, he is either seriously misinformed about what it means to be a libertarian (he's had it explicitly explained to him by Judge Napolitano, specifically referencing the NAP), stupid, or insance. I think it's a combination of the two latter options. He has conjured up in his head this existential threat posed by a bunch of two-bit middle eastern countries without a single nuclear weapon amongst them, and turned it into a justification for internventionism, which he has specifically endorsed in regards to Iran.

Again, I get that he has this abiding fear of Islamic extremism, but he does not understand both where it comes from, or what the actual level of threat is. He's allowed that fear to consume him to the point that he advocates violating the NAP, which is fine in and of itself, but then he isn't really a libertarian.

There is another name for those who want the freedom, but do not accept the responsibility for their own actions and it is NOT "libertarian".
 
So, how do posts make it to front page? If you don't want all the front page "Beck", couldn't you just promote other posts to the front page?
