You don't win by quitting... (Ron is still a Republican)

Be careful about disagreeing on this thread, you may get a disapproval on your rep (like I did from Matt: "I don't welcome your defeatism.")

That's the thing Matt, the party and most people in it are very unwelcoming. Very unwelcoming. Sure they wanted to give our delegates freedom -- freedom to leave the convention and take their votes with them.

Oh, and their signs too ... free to take their votes AND small signs with them.

The thing is.. I don't feel like I win just because a party wins. I only wanted to be a Republican because of Ron Paul. Many Democrats and Independents see the wisdom in Ron Paul.

I will not vote for Romney this election. If Romney should win this election, and run again in 2016.... I still will not vote for Romney.

You are trying to convince us that Romney should inherit the millions of votes from people that Ron Paul has inspired? Simply because they both ran as a Republican? Or am I getting you wrong?

I think we should all register Republican en masse but not vote for for Romney or Obama in the general. Then Romney will lose and we'll have a huge number of R's to further annihilate the elitist contingent in the party.

I want to see the Libertarian Party get the largest percentage in its history so the GOP is forced to look at that percentage and say "If we had picked Ron Paul those people would have voted for us." Then in 2016 we may get a liberty candidate on the ticket if they're interested in winning. The fact is if we vote for Romney in this election we have defeated ourselves by letting the GOP know they can ignore and disenfranchise us and we will still vote for whoever they want because they have the right letter next to their name. The only way we lose is if we do what the GOP establishment wants us to do.

where did he say that?

He didn't really, But I think the writing has been on the wall ever since he walked out on the convention. He hates politics and would rather educate. And I agree. This is a battle for minds, not committee positions.

I think you are totally right!

Ron just said he is not a Republican anymore... should pretty much end this thread.

Jus sayin...
That is incorrect. Please quit spreading this falsehood.
If you listen in context and to the tone of his voice, it is clear he meant that he doesn't own or control the party. He obviously didn't mean that he isn't a member of it.

Ron delivered so many of us to the RNC/GOP (whatever) and they basically spit in his face and ours. Our strategy didn't win this time and with their rules, which they can change any time at their whim, makes it impossible for us to succeed in that party since all the power is at the top and about 10 people make all the decisions. The truth is, it was always impossible, we just didn't know they would be so low as to change every freaking rule. We did succeed, however, on shining a big bright light on the roaches.

I was always a Libertarian. The only reason I affiliated myself at all to the Republican party was because that was the ONLY way Ron Paul could run and get mainstream. The GOP is too corrupt and way too shady, I don't trust them with my vote at all so why would I stay with them?
Because it is our most effective vehicle to promoting the cause of liberty at this time. It is what we make it, and we've made a lot of gains. We own the Iowa and Minnesota GOP, and others as well. Now is NOT the time to quit and go backwards when we are trending upwards.

That is your interpretation and I do not agree with it. Stop spreading bad rep because we don't agree with your interpretations. Dissent is OK in our world - it's just not OK in the GOP.

Your defeatism is not welcome here.

We lost because we didn't have the numbers. But we are growing, they are shrinking, we are the future, they are the past. Next time aroudn we'll be even bigger and will have a better chance. That is of course as long as those who love liberty don't quit or give up.

There is a difference between dissent and being factually incorrect. For you on what Ron said, it is the later.
