Witness Says Trayvon Martin Attacked George Zimmerman

Agreed. So why give that power to the police on the scene, rather than a jury of his peers?
Innocent until proven guilty.

That is the system we have in place ... If no one feels the need to press charges, it is what it is.

Zimmerman might have committed murder, but without a verdict from the court, hyphothesis is worthless.

Or,
When committing the perfect crime, make sure your ducks are.................................. Or face charges.
No clue about innocence or guilt, but not willing to grab a rope and hang the man, either.

kk So there's a grand jury convening. Free until proven guilty? Why do we hold anyone in custody, then?

This is start to remind me of the Duke Lacrosse gang rape case. Media desperately wanted a white against black hate crime. The usual poverty pimps, shuckin and jivin Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson were on the scene all but calling it the worst thing to happen since blacks were being lynched. But as the evidence slowly began to get out it was pure BS. The woman had lied through her teeth and was just looking for a big money payday. Mike Nifong the prosecutor has been disbarred. The kids parents had to shell out big bucks defending their kids against the charges. The Lacrosse coach lost his job.

Now Barry Hussein Obama is using this to stoke racial resentment. Truly disgraceful.

Yes there is slow burning race war going on in this country. And it ain't whites fueling it. If you look at FBI stats it is shocking how much black on white crime there is.

Place is full of them lately.
Do you think that guy is packing ?
I am ... Always !!!
And that ain't tough, that's the realization that I can't beat the crap out of someone 30 years younger than I am ;)
But I sure as hell will end their day, if they attack me without provocation, and I am lucky enought to get the upper hand.

I'm surprised this Mexican guy is referred to as "White" for some reasonl

The only justification I can give toward this is the flight risk, but is it justified ... In many cases ... NO !!

It's just like letting someone out on probation ... If they are a threat to society, don't give them probation ... If you feel they are not a threat, restore ALL of their rights, and not a limited set of rights.
That is one of many flaws with the system we have created.

It's a good thing Martin was not near me, because he'd not have been given the opportunity to get on top of me for the assault ... BANG !

Would you have been following Martin around with a loaded weapon at night after being told by 911 that you shouldn't?

Except all I'm asking for is a normal application of the same old rules. Arrest, bail, trial, result.

No, what you are asking for is a completely new set of rules in which probable cause as a prerequisite for arrest is dismissed in favor of the existence of an angry black mob. That's what you keep missing. The rules in our system are Probable Cause, Arrest, Bail, Indictment, Trial, Result. The chain can not get started absent probable cause. The police investigated the death. They found no evidence a crime had been committed under Florida Law. Despite all the media attention, we have still not heard of a single shred of evidence which would provide probable cause to make an arrest. Juries do not determine probable cause. Probable Cause is the standard we use to protect people from arbitrary arrest and judgment by juries. Police can not just throw their hands up and say, "we don't really know what happened here, let's let a jury decide." Rather, the arresting officer himself needs to have a reasonable belief that a crime has been committed.

This desire for mob justice and dispensing of basic procedural protections among the masses doesn't surprise me, but I'm quite shocked to find it getting so much traction on these forums. If anybody should care about our natural rights and most basic of protections against arbitrary arrest, it should be us.

The dude is riding around "patrolling" with a gun. He thought the unarmed guy he ended up killing was suspicious. Perhaps if he had law enforcement training, instead of on the job training (or whatever he was doing), the young man that is dead would now be alive. Imo, our cops don't have enough training, we do not need others making bigger mistakes.

A young man is dead over being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and having a bad "watchmen" cross his path.

There is no such thing as a race war. Stop living in fear.

I'm sure you have proof that this is what I want.

I have cited articles in various OTHER threads already, showing that legal experts find it odd that this is going to a GRAND JURY for review without the guy ever having been arrested.

What I am asking is that the cops, absent forensics, ballistics, all the 9-1-1 tapes, the testimony of witnesses... that those cops not be entrusted with the ultimate say as to whether or not this guy acted in self-defense. What I am asking is that a guy found with a corpse next to him, with a bullethole, with the bullet admittedly shot from that gun, be considered to have killed him and that, until it can be determined by a presentation of the evidence that he acted in self-defense or some other reasonable explanation is in play, he be arrested.

I know. I'm bonkers like that.

And you can't have that without a competent police investigation. I would like to hear more from this aspect....

But after the shooting, a source inside the police department told ABC News that a narcotics detective and not a homicide detective first approached Zimmerman. The detective pepppered Zimmerman with questions, the source said, rather than allow Zimmerman to tell his story. Questions can lead a witness, the source said.

Another officer corrected a witness after she told him that she heard the teen cry for help.

The officer told the witness, a long-time teacher, it was Zimmerman who cried for help, said the witness. ABC News has spoken to the teacher and she confirmed that the officer corrected her when she said she heard the teenager shout for help.

Sounds to me that the police may have been predisposed to clear Zimmerman or at the least incredibly incompetent.

POssibly ... But I doubt we will ever know.
