CBS said:
"The movement is energized," Wead said of Paul backers, who generally share their leader's libertarian views. "Dr. Paul's message is resonating with more and more people all the time - it's why they're willing to go sit around at these conventions all day and out-stay the establishment."

That energy, Wead said, could transfer to Paul's son Rand, the Republican Senator from Kentucky. And if Rand decides to follow in his father's footsteps and run for president in 2016 (as Wead believes he will), "he's in a much better place to do it because of Dr. Paul's campaign this time around," he said.

Thats nice but the Christian Just War Theory and principles that go along with it outweigh the person and I just don't think its wise to look towards 2016 on a whim.

I don't think Rand is the best messenger for this movement. Let's not make this movement about some royal Paul family. There are others.

Rand will be in a much better position for two main reasons....

first: Rand will actively reach out to groups that Ron simply didn't work with. Hannity, Beck, and other traditional republicans.

second: we are growing while they are shrinking. Our wing of the party is growing simply based on the old guard dying.

The fact that Rand is actively cutting into the traditional GOP contingent as well as the pure demographics of the situation mean we will be in a much better shape in '16 than we are now.

Maybe Amash or even Massie will be more principled or such, but i doubt either of them will have as high a profile as Rand does come 2016.

You are making too much sense. What about build-a-burger?

Rand can (and has) dumb down the message. What more can you ask for? That was our whole problem from the start. The great thing about royalty is everyone knows who you are. And your asking us to start ALL OVER? Are you insane? Are you that hipster kid that needs to discover a new band once everyone jumps on board?

Couldn't agree more. I'm not doubting the hearts and intentions of people here, but let me just say, thank GOD some of the posters here are NOT in charge of guiding this movement. lol.

Rand Paul will be in much better stead with the REPUBLICANS who shied away from his "kooky" father.

But the Grand Old Party is tacking harder "right". Ergo, Rand Paul will NOT be in better stead with NON Republicans.

Did he lose a gamble or accomplish a mission, that is the question.

Rand Paul was better positioned to ratchet from Bowling Green ophthalmologist to United States Senator because of his father.

He is better positioned "in 2016" because of his "enthusiastic" endorsement of Mitt Romney, which broadcasts TEAM PLAYER.

IN JUNE + ON HANNITY + CAMPAIGN 4 HIM = TRIFECTA.

The reason why Rand is in a better position for 2016 is because he's actually willing to work within the Republican Party to accomplish things.

Right now, I'd rather cast a vote for Amash, than Rand.

Maybe in 2036. Will he even be old enough Constitutionally in 2016? I really like Justin Amash but there is a lot more to being President than checking off the same boxes on issues, which I think most people miss on the forums. When it comes to actually being in a position of leadership theoretical opinions matter a lot less than being able to work with legislators.

I am really excited about the possibility of a Rand Paul presidency.

Dude are you kidding me? Amash is amazing. If we focus more on "getting things done" than "sticking with the message" then we become watered down, and just as effective as the Tea Party, which is to say not at all. Amash stick with the message, and makes sure to be as open as possible with every single vote he makes. I would vote Amash in a heart beat in 2016 (Assuming he is actually old enough. Does anyone know how old he is?)
