Rumors that Jim Webb might be in the running. There was talk of making him VP (would have been better than Pence). Former Virgina Senator Webb wrote and spoke forcefully against Iraq and said he would not vote for Clinton this year. He also dissed Bush and the photo op with W He has experience since he was also Secretary of the Navy and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs
Unfortunately there's more names of dedicated hardcore neocons out there being talked about more.
Rand should try to do whatever he can to intervene. He could use this a way to open a line of communication to Trump and signal an area they could work together on that's more popular and bi-partisan for both: America First foreign policy.
Maybe also even signal approval for Newt Gingrich as the better of the options Trump is considering for Secretary of State. Newt did acknowledge Iraq was a mistake: Newt Gingrich sees major Mideast mistakes, rethinks his neocon views on intervention
We can't afford another person being elected on a humble foreign policy and then having the people around the President cook intelligence and march the country toward war. I wonder if there's anything we can do as a movement to influence this? Right now it looks like the neocons are making a power grab and it's Bush all over again.
Trump owes those scheming hacks nothing and if he wants to get them back for their consistent mockery and betrayal I know of nothing better than appointing an America First foreign policy cabinet. Trump may be a lot of things but a chump pushover for the people that laughed at him I don't think is one of them.
