Wead Says Rand Paul in Better Position for 2016 Because of Ron Paul

Some want to win elections by compromising principles. Some want to educate and change more minds to create a massive societal paradigm shift (like another Enlightenment).

Running for office and educating are two different things, and whenever someone combines them, they lose.

Doesn't "educate" always come off as arrogant? Who is anyone to say that they are so brilliant? How would anyone here react to a hardcore neoconservative saying they're going to "educate" you on the need to intervene in other countries' affairs?

You win elections by telling people what you know they will agree with you on. You don't win elections by telling people that the things they think they know are wrong, and you have all the answers.

I guess, on the education front, the question is...has Rand taught anyone you know? Either yourself or someone you know, has Rand managed to pull in anyone new, who went on to learn more on their own? Does he have the potential to do that? I think to some extent yes....I've tried his 'talking points' on people before and have gotten some success.

(I think he, whether intentionally or not, just gave a lot of people a cold hard lesson on the dangers of too much idealism placed soley on one person's shoulders)

If rand decides he's going to run in 2016, I will run against him.

Lets see how much everyone on the forum likes that.

What is your platform?

The reason why Rand is in a better position for 2016 is because he's actually willing to work within the Republican Party to accomplish things.

Yes. Also the facts that he is younger, has a somewhat "cleaner" past and is a Senator each work to his advantage over what his dad had/has.

I've already said that I'll max out to make up for the anarchists who won't support Rand in 2016. I hope others do the same.

Anarchists such as myself will wait to see how Rand votes over the next three years and who he hires to manage his campaign before deciding how much money, if any, to spend on his 2016 presidential campaign. Declaring unconditional support or non-support is silly this early IMO.

That's an odd statement. You do realize that in those people you so easily discard, you are also talking about people like Ron Paul, the guy who was on the floor in Louisiana and countless others. People who know way more than you do.

Nah, it's mostly selfish trash who repeatedly vote for big government and endless war. The faster they die off, the better for liberty.

To everyone talking about Rand Paul 2016...what happened to Ron Paul 2012 or BUST?

isn't 2016 too late for Rand to run? The economic collapse should have arrived by then.

Rand Paul is his father, without the newsletter and earmark baggage for desperate neoconservatives to use against him.

Kristol, Frum, Cheney and Horowitz have all made their distaste of Rand Paul known too. He has the right big-name enemies.

Ron Paul has been marginalized for years with his decades worth of controversial comments. But Rand Paul is more paleo than his dad expressed in public which makes him more at home in the Republican Party. This has to have the Neocons extremely worried because they weren't able to really make a dent in him in Kentucky with the familiar playbook of denigration. So in 2016, Rand Paul's campaign prospects look extremely formidable, especially starting in Iowa where the Iowa GOP has gravitated to him.

Yeah, I think Ron was very aware of the fact that he was attracting young progressives and liberals, who were initially attracted by the antiwar message, to stay and listen to the economic message too. Which is pretty unusual when you consider economics often tends to be where progressives always part ways...no matter how much we might agree on civil liberties or foreign policy issues.
