The curious grammar of police shootings

I did that once when I was 15. Very Very Very bad for you. Do not try this at home.

Man you get mad props if you could down a whole bottle in one shot. As for me, Jack and I got into a bit of a disagreement last time so we are permenatly not speaking. Although his friend the Captain and I do speak from time to time.

I bring all of this up because of a more recent example from southern Georgia. Last week, a deputy in Coffee County shot a 10-year-old boy in the leg. The deputy was participating in a manhunt for a robbery suspect who had earlier shot a police officer. Here’s how a report from Albany, Georgia TV station WALB described the incident:

The deputy’s gun fired one shot, missing the dog and hitting the child.

Radley Balko writes some good stuff, but in this case even he missed how retardedly messed up the police statement was in regard to this shooting. Balko only saw a statement by the media.

The actual police statement reads: "During the arrest the juvenile received a gunshot wound to the leg." which not only fails to mention that it was a Coffee County officer who pulled the trigger, but (probably out of shame) also failed to mention any dog that he’d tried to kill.
A few months ago that statement was on the Coffee County Sheriff Department facebook page, but I just checked now and the whole entire incident of shooting a 10 year old kid has been expunged. No mention of it at all.

Another one that I'm particularly pissed off about is this...

June 2014. During a hunt for a local transient, Riverside police took their dog into the back yard of a private home that contained a pet dog. When the two dogs confronted each other, the decision was made to kill the pet dog named Princess at its own home in order to protect the police dog.

Ineptly, the officer managed to shoot the police K9 dog in the leg.
Riverside police later gave statements to the media about how unfortunate the situation was for the wounded police dog, even going so far as to arrange a photo opportunity to show the police dog wearing a cast on her leg, and posting these pictures, video, and stories onto multiple social media web pages.
But they also totally neglected to offer any words of sympathy for the dead pet or its owner. As a prime example, the story about the shooting posted by police onto their Facebook web page does not even say that the pet was killed. It is a minor detail they see not important enough to bother mentioning.

This sort of thing started with traffic accidents. I guess some newspaper somewhere years ago reported, 'So and so crossed the center line and hit...' and got sued because the steering went wrong in the vehicle or something. So, suddenly it wasn't the driver driving off the roadway, it was, '...the vehicle left the roadway...'

Well, you know, ball joints do break, and once or twice per billion vehicle miles of travel I suppose a steering gear or coupling might disconnect itself. But guns don't go off without a finger, or a paw, or something in contact with the trigger unless you, like, toss them out fourth floor windows or something. And even then they have to land the right way to go off.

This mealy-mouthed crap is crap.

Yeah, it doesn't happen like in the movies. In fact, it is virtually impossible to get a gun to fire just by dropping it. The car thing is understandable, but it doesn't apply to firearms. Not to mention that reporters usually know the facts of the case and use the passive tense anyway.

I remember when the media elites determined that SUVs were undesirable. It was as if Maximum Overdrive had actually happened.

I was once at a point where I would have been capable of doing that, but it never actually struck me as a good idea. Most I ever did was pour half a fifth on ice, shake it around a bit and then drain the whole thing. Maybe do it again in an hour or so. Another lifetime lol. Jose is the guy I'm never speaking to again. :D

America is already saturated in Newspeak and most don't even have a clue because nobody has bothered to produce a dictionary.

Pretty soon they'll start saying "The suspect then continually assaulted the officer's fist with his nose."

or "The suspect then made contact with the officer's bullet."

I notice that they are actively deleting any comments referring to the dog that was killed.

I read the other day that some sheriff's dept took down their facebook page because some group was threatening to sue over this sort of thing.

A .gov entity creating a public forum where only positive comments are allowed seems to be a violation of the First Amendment.

On Friday, June 13, 2014, about 10 P.M., Deputy Cranfill and her canine partner, Tessa, were in Lakeland Village looking for a felony suspect. They were searching a residential yard, when a large pit bull jumped out an open window and attacked Tessa. Another Deputy Sheriff fired at the pit bull, which halted the attack.

Unfortunately, one of the rounds struck Tessa in the right paw. Tessa received emergency treatment for her injury. Tessa’s recovery is promising and, with luck and healing, she should be able to return to work. Tessa spent Saturday night at the veterinarian’s office, but is now home with Deputy Cranfill, no doubt being spoiled!

OK good. I was mistaken the innocent dog was not killed. Thank goodness. I am glad to be mistaken in such cases.

ETA - probably because the Balko article reads: "But they also totally neglected to offer any words of sympathy for the dead pet or its owner."

That seems like it would give one the impression the dog had been killed. Thank goodness Balko was mistaken in this case then.

Phrasing severely affects Perceptions.

So lets try some things here and change the phrasing based on the concepts of the Law. In this case lets use Innocent until proven Guilty so we can get rid of the word "suspect".

Robbery Suspect shot by Police.
Innocent Man shot by Police.

Its MSM Sensationalism, which is what really drives their Ratings. Problem is Sensationalism creates Fearmongering. Try changing the topic to something like Weather. It isnt just "Winter", it is a "Severe Horrible Snowstorm". It creates an Extremist Bias. "Worst Storm Ever". Not just a regular storm, but by creating the Extremist Bias, they are able to hold your focus on what they are saying something trivial such as "there is a wimpy pathetic storm coming in to the area which is expected to drop a measly twelve feet of snow per hour". This Extreme Bias can go the other way such as downplaying the severity of things as well. "The Cop was just doing his job". "... had reasonable cause to shoot the suspect". "Nuclear disaster is not a big deal". By carefully choosing their adjectives, they can UP PLAY or DOWN PLAY the perceived severity of every situation. "Police State is no big deal". "Fukushima is no longer an issue". Alternatively "ISIS is the most dangerous and extreme threat to the safety of the American People and must be eradicated".

Monopoloy on Belief that what you are told is true and factual and unbiased. Focus on what you are told to focus on and pay no attention to the things that are either ignored or downplayed. The economy is just fine. Nuclear Meltdowns are just fine. Starting World Wars are just fine. Police shooting everyone is just fine. Vaccines are perfectly safe. GMO's are perfectly healthy. Citizen Guns are all dangerous and only used to commit crimes. Gun Owners and Liberty Lovers and Ron Paul Supporters are all Criminal Conspiracy Theorists. 9/11 was perpetrated by "brown people". Total Surveillance is what you need to be safe. Giving up your Liberties for Safety is what you should do. You need Big Brother to protect you from Boogeymen. Computer Cars are what you need to be safe. Always they validate their existence and persuade you to give up every measure of contrl of your lives to those who do not have your best interests in mind. They NEVER appeal to your Logical senses, which causes a suppression of thinking, and ONLY appeal to your emotional senses. Youre a cold heartless bastard if you want to do away with Social Security and Obamacare because of all the people that need it. These methods are emotional manipulations that encourage you to become your own worst enemy. They get you to question yourself so that you surrender more self control to the Parasite Class.

Here is another common misperception: Brainwashing. People dont believe that Brainwashing exists in todays society because the only way to Brainwash someone is to put forth extreme efforts in extreme situations that forcibly alter a persons consciousness. This is done through the Suspension of Disbelief in fiction like Clockwork Orange and others where the technique of Brainwashing is performed by putting a person in a chair, forcibly opening the persons eyes, and subjecting them to a constant stream of Visual and Audio stimulus. This is NOT how Brainwashing works. It is MUCH more subtle, and is accomplished by carefully phrasing information so that each stage (there are roughly 12 in total) is impreceptible by the victims. The end result is that the victims only believe what they are told to believe, which is why I maintain the Monopoly on Belief, which is achieved through very advanced and subtle psychology and heavily focused on Brainwashing every single person, including those in the Govt itself. Psychopaths, such as many Police and Lawmakers receive different types of subtle manipulations to their already fragile psyches that they genuinely believe that more Facism will benefit everyone. Psychopaths and Sociopaths can be manufactured. Being aware of how Brainwashing works, as well as other forms of psychological manipulations are critical to being able to resist the adverse effects desired by those who pull everyones strings. The more you are able to consciously recognize these tactics, the less of an effect these methods have on everyone. Thus, it is important that when you spot one of these subversive applications, you call them out so that others are able to recognize them as well.

This may not come to a shock to most of you: anglo america embraces police work , is it not clear in Ferguson,MO; NYC; and other places? Sure there is on occasion the uncle tom house slave, but lets just face it: most of white american government workers are house slaves working for their masters to whip the field slaves and its been that way for quite some time and I'd say that most of them have forgotten or don't even know what early america was about when it came to principles or morality. A majority of people are willing to sell their soul for a dollar. What we have is a case of the Colonel Custards who do not give a flying fuck about justice , do not give a fuck about the elderly or the weak, or anyone for that matter because they are just like everyone who stands on the side and permits the job, permits the actions and training, permits and okays everything wrong about the system from the bottom to the top to continue it so that there is some form of "order"making them feel safer every day and every night knowing that someone their color is out there with a loaded gun keeping "america" safe. So when people talk about mexico and how corrupt mexicans are, or blacks in africa and how corrupt blacks in africa are...just remember, in america whites are just as corrupt (in the government and all its programs that is). No one can ever change a governments operating system, or dismantle it when a race stands in the way to protect itself, perhaps this is why the police state is so difficult to dismantle fundamentally. Why else is the war on terror so biased against anyone who is brown? Anyhow, that is probably not going to make a lot of you happy to hear, but I am tired of people being politically correct, but I am only bringing up a point about one of the major reasons why the police state perpetuates in america. All you need to do is look at facts : there is a huge gap in race in law enforcment, and especially the FBI. So who is perpetuating the police state's violence mostly?
