Ron Paul will not endorse Gary Johnson

Ok, well they are also anti-interventionist foreign policy, anti-fed, anti patriot act, anti-NDAA. Personally I care about those much more. Plus, the CP actually seems to want to earn our votes, the LP seems to think they just deserve are entitled to them. I don't have delusions of a 3rd party winning; but if I cast a vote for one its gonna be the CP.

So is the LP, all of those things you listed. AND they're not backwards social conservatives. Johnson is on all 50 ballots and needs your vote more than Virgil Goode. The LP went to Paulfest, Johnson addressed the crowd, he's asked time and time again for our votes, how exactly is the LP acting entitled to our support?

I don't know why people here have some deep seeded hatred for the LP. Ron ran as one, if anything that should create a stronger bond between that party and this movement.

I used to belong to the LP, still do at heart, I guess, but there's

"something about Gary" that I don't trust.

I don't have any such hatred. But I've heard Johnson speak and he has gone limp on those big issues which are important to me. He isn't campaigning on them as far as I've heard and he underimpresses. I don't give a crap how many ballots they are on, they are on mine.

Yup. That makes 2 LP candidates in a row that have dissed Paul. And 2 CP candidates in a row that have praised him highly.
This was CP candidate Goode's response to getting our support:

Goode: Ron Paul has been a friend from my first days in Congress. I learned a lot as a member of his Liberty Caucus in the House. I understand his interests in his son’s viability as a presidential candidate, but I’m always an optimist: I’d welcome Ron’s support. However, you’re right Peter—we should plan to face reality and capture the Ron Paul constituency on our own. Just look at the issues Ron has run on: audit the Fed, the gold standard, and a non-interventionist foreign policy. That’s our platform! Campaigning on the issues that matter most to those who believe in the Constitution will resonate with Ron Paul supporters. I think we might just pay a visit to Tampa during the Republican Party convention and talk with some of Ron Paul’s best organizers and grass roots leaders. When the Republicans crown Mitt Romney, we’ll be right there recruiting constitutionalists to our banner.

Virgil Goode supports Ron Paul's non-interventionist foreign policy? I thought he didn't.

Edit: His voting record is mixed.

Ok, this just sealed the deal for me. I'm not voting for Johnson.

This "family business" thought that Ron won't endorse Gary b/c Rand probably has political ambitions for 2016 has been brought up hundreds of times on these forums. If you took a poll of members here of reasons why they think Paul won't likely endorse a third party candidate for 2012, I'm quite sure a VERY clear majority (probably even you) would state that it's for Rand's benefit. So don't pile up on Gary b/c he stated that. The abortion, gay marriage, and humanitarian intervention stances are nothing new.

He claims to have come around and learned a lot. He is pretty adamant about it. You either believe him or you think he is the CP's barr this go-around. I figure I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, since it isn't like either 3rd party will win and at least he doesn't want to use US resources to get Kony.

I really hope Ron doesn't endorse the CP again. They're a bunch of hardcore anti-gay, drug and porn social-cons. Totally against the liberty message.

He endorsed Baldwin, who is as far removed from that as Ron is from the GOP.

Dr. Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin in 2008, the CP nominee.
...and that's how I voted. I have no idea who I am voting for this go 'round. I would never vote for either Romney or Obama... may be the first time I abstain from voting at all. That would hurt, but it looks more and more clear that our voting has nothing to do with who wins.

If he's not running 3rd party, then all of this was for Rand. We are left hanging out to dry for another 4 to 16 years?

If Ron does not run, my vote will be for Gary Johnson. I guess after tonight I will know if I am welcome on this forum.

You are welcome on this forum, regardless of your vote.

I'll either vote for GJ or abstain... I live in GA, where Mittens is going to win regardless of how I vote.

how so? I assume that Ron Paul won't say much of anything tonight. Most Ron Paul supporters will be voting for GJ. Voting for GJ won't be a problem here.
