Rand says Constitution doesn't allow Trump to be ‘ultimate regulator of our lives’

Save this link for the next time we protest someone on the left doing the same thing and they retort, but you didn't care when Trump did it.

And to Trump's credit he said this at today's press conference during questions:

"The best way, from a managerial standpoint, is to let individual governors run individual states and come to us if they have difficulty and we will help them."

Trump clearly understands that the Gov.'s have the lead role . If he were to lose , do not expect that from the dems.

I see that as a threat that if they do not march in lock step - no Fed money. Which most people know would lose an election.

The 10th Amendment certainly does apply, there is no beef there. It is the way that framed it... FED.gov help me save me give me more frn’s!

Also , I give nearly all governors grades ranging from D- to an F on this .

Rand Paul Warns Trump: Fed Gov Not The ‘Ultimate Regulator Of Our Lives’

Trump HAS been warned.

Rand Paul Warns Trump: Federal Government Not The ‘Ultimate Regulator Of Our Lives’

Sen.-Rand-Paul-R-KY-speaks-during-a-press-conference-regarding-the-executive-order-President-Donald-Trump-signed-earlier-on-Thursday-on-Capitol-Hill-October-12-2017-in-Washington-DC-e1586276640404.jpg

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul appeared to warn President Donald Trump against overreaching on coronavirus restrictions Tuesday, tweeting that “powers not delegated are RESERVED to states & the PEOPLE.”

“The constitution doesn’t allow the federal gov’t to become the ultimate regulator of our lives because they wave a doctor’s note,” Paul said.

“Powers not delegated are RESERVED to states & the PEOPLE. If we dispense with constitutional restraints, we will have more to worry about than a virus.”

The senator, who had coronavirus himself and has since recovered, tweeted this after Trump implied that he has the ultimate authority to re-open the country, even over the will of governors.

During the coronavirus briefing Monday, Trump said, “when somebody is the President of the United States the authority is total, and that’s the way it’s got to be.”
“The authority of the president of the United States, having to do with the subject we’re talking about, is total,” he added.

I’ve been waiting for Rand to say something. Amash and Massie have been taking heat for speaking the Constitution, glad Rand is healthy now and joining in.

:warning: Do not expect this to last past the election being decided, expect a boot on our necks with an R or a D. :redflag:

The hammer WILL come down after election day. :meridians:

Rand is fighting the war, to keep the economies closed in states? No, he is just being principled.

He's right, but Trump isn't going to over rule states anyway so it's sort of a moot issue.

We have been ranting and raving about the states closing down the economy, now Trump says he might use the power of the federal govt. to open the economy (which he isn't actually going to do) and some how this is a major issue?

It's a talking point, something we should be reminding ourselves, but it's not a real threat.

How many governor seat are up for this election? If any?

Republican-held seats up for election
New Hampshire
Vermont
Utah
North Dakota
Missouri
Indiana
West Virginia

Democrat-held seats up for election
Washington
Montana
Delaware
North Carolina

North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Montana are the three competitive seats. In NC & NH, the sitting governor is up for re-election, while in Montana, Steve Bullock’s Lt. Governor is the Democratic front runner.

Thanks.

rand shouldnt bother even trying right now to spar with the president. the biggest issue right now are governors and mayors acting like tin pot dictators

The people don't want to be free, they want to be told what to do.

Everyone is just too susceptible to media influence. They don't know how to think any other way. The same morons who said Trump was "literally Hitler" are raging out that he isn't using more power to "stop" the virus. Its never ending self-contradiction in response to media fear mongering.
