The woman hosting the Judge's show tonight stated that maybe Romney needed to name his choice for VP to try and appeal to conservatives and give his campaign a boost.

That got me thinking about Ron Paul, especially if he wins Iowa and wins or comes in second in New Hampshire. Then he heads to the Southern states. It might be time to start thinking about VP candidates.

I know a lot of speculation has already been done on this, and people tend to look at other liberty-minded politicians in the House or Senate, like his son Rand. But in my opinion, anyone liberty-minded with similar political views to Ron Paul needs to STAY in the House or Senate - they are needed more there in a Ron Paul presidency.

Because Ron Paul is viewed (wrongly) as week on defense, and because he has more support among the military than all the other candidates, I wonder if a top brass military person, like a general or admiral, would be a better choice than a politician? Such a person could help articulate how one could bring the troops home and still maintain a strong(er) national defense. Any names out there??

Lets start with the nots:

No to economists: Williams, Schiff, Rockwell, Woods etc.

No to small-name liberty friends: Karen K, Sherriff Mack, Chuck Baldwin etc.

No to media personalities: Stossel, Judge, Church, Doyle

No to Rand.

No to Democrats.

Understand this:

A VP pick should have these things in mind(but not all are needed)-shoring up base, expanding base, helping in swing states, balance

They should agree with the Prez on many, but not all issues

Ron Paul will be 77 years old. Voters need a VP they can be confident in to step in. Sorry, that is the deal.

My picks: Luis Fortuno, Jim DeMint, Tom Coburn

(Apologizes to Gary Johnson and Mark Sanford, you took yourselves out of the running)

*Note: Justin Amash it too young, and Mike Lee is probably too inexperienced.

Former General Wesley Clark comes to mind. He ran for the Democratic nomination in 2004 opposing the Iraq war.

But IMO the best VP for Ron would be a young, libertarian-leaning Hispanic female with executive experience. But I'll be flexible haha.

Luis Fortuno would be a good one, as he would have the tokenism of Marco Rubio without the neoconservatism.

Should select Rand. That way if he dies, his ideas will be followed through on.

Jesse Ventura,,,

@ the State if The Union Address if anyone "Mouths Off" during Ron's speech, Jesse can go over and pop these Taxpayer Ticks' head like a zit.

Speaking of the Judge. I can think of a position for which he is supremely qualified, in a Paul administration.

the Judge is no more of a media personality than Huckabee or Palin. he has run for statewide office in NJ

Wesley Clark is a neo-con who favors the draft.

Jesse Ventura favors a draft, and Obama care

Luis Fortuño has lived in the USA if one considers PR to be part of the USA; Obama would never challenge it and risk the Hispanic vote

the VP might have to be dealt away to secure the nomination.

Lol. Wesley Clark is a flaming liberal Democrat. I'm sure that would go over well at the GOP convention. There's no way in the world I'd vote for a ticket that had a liberal Democrat on it. I wouldn't vote for a ticket with Jesse Ventura on it either. If Ron Paul picks a pro choice VP he loses the support of a lot of us.

But will that hurt Ron's election prospects....I think so.

And knowing Ron, I don't see it coming.

Not necessarily. Ron's biggest selling point is the fact that he has unimpeachable integrity and honesty at a time when the American people are desperate for a leader they can trust. If you wanted someone as VP who can credibly "piggyback" on Ron's credibility, it would be hard to find a better candidate than his own son.

If that leftist liberal scumbag who headed the Waco TX government attacks is anywhere near Ron Paul, I'm voting Constitution Party.
