OFFICIAL Sanford v Colbert-Busch RESULTS THREAD (update: Sanford WINS!)

So PPP was off by 8 points in this race? That makes their gun control polls look pretty suspect as well.

Reactions from some folks I know on Facebook:

"i'm pissed. It just goes to show you, the south will never pick the best, they will pick the party"

"I'm pissed but I have hope! Demographics are changing and there are a lot of hardworking people all across the south, the midwest, and other traditionally conservative areas who fight for democratic values. Fingers crossed for better results next time around..."

"VA and NC already shifted from Republican to swing states. Georgia's on its way there too (give it till maybe the 2020 cycle). I wouldn't be shocked if SC's the next to fall (with the growing Charleston area)"

"special election in the house of representatives and they elected their asshole ex governor instead of the badass and wonderful elizabeth colbert busch"

Now I pointed out on one NBC report that if people could get over Bill Clinton's fun time, anything is possible, but needless to say some folks aren't pleased about it. Though pointing out that VA and NC shifted to swing states is interesting to note, especially considering 2014 and 2016 and whether that trend will continue.

Sad but true. The way things seem to be headed, we won the battle but the war may be lost. The south will go blue.

Oh bunk.

Democrats think the whole country will be theirs. Then after eight years of Obama, Republicans win the entire south in a cakewalk.

Lol! They meant to say "angry, venomous, awkward, crony-lobbyist bought elizabeth colbert busch".

Seriously, if they had run a decent Democrat, they might have had a chance. ECB completely blew her one and only debate. She was the sister of a celebrity, nothing more.

She was completely exposed in the final week of the campaign with mug shots coming out and her claims to be a "businesswomen" debunked. She had no business. She was a fraud and they saw through her.

You can't make these claims in that district without proving yourself.

Oh yeah? run a business? what business? How many people did you employ? turnover? profit?

She just kept repeating she was a businesswoman !

It was the most laughable campaign i've ever seen.

The amazing thing is the press never even vetted her. even local papers were calling a "leader".

LEADER OF WHAT ?

The blogs like fitsnews and Breitbart, Daily Caller etc. exposed her.

Well, we're going to need more than just the South.

Some of the Midwest, most of the West, plus NH would be nice as well.

SC-01 proves Republicans don't actually give a shit about "family values". That's just an excuse to hate gays.

LOL! I know, that's why I posted about those gazillionaires and especially, 'Holy Thou Art' Foster Friess, that bankrolled that Theocrat-Lobbyist CONMAN Rick Santorum. I'm like WTF? Foster Friess preachen wholesomeness on all the corporate media and EVEN on CSPAN, about family values and Frothy, yet runs a fundraiser for Mark Sanford? Yeah, the big con continues with these liars and snakes... if only the dumbass ignorant public could put 1+1 together.

I don't get it. Mark Sanford has never been a stereotypical "family-values" conservative. He has always ran on a fiscally libertarian, socially conservative/libertarian platform. Emphasis on the fiscal credentials.

And she still got 45%, that's scary.

Go Team Red! Go Team Red! Yay! YOUESSAAY YOUESSAAY YOUESSAAY

Come on, RPFs. So a Republican won a seat in the House of Representatives, held by Republicans...the party that changed its rules in Tampa to ensure that the electorate could choose between Coke or Pepsi last November. (Come to think of it, aren't their cans red and blue, respectively? Think TPTB might be trying to tell us something?)

Kudos to Representative-Elect Sanford. Enough said.
