Official Health Care Ruling Thread (Obamacare upheld)

Well, there goes the argument for voting R just for the SCOTUS.

Exactly! I was trying to make this point in another thread and was called a "liberal" by Traditional Conservative for not buying the argument about SCOTUS. SCOTUS will always figure out a way to give the Feds what they want. It's just a matter of which justice can take the brunt of it at the time. Roberts drew the shortest straw this round and sided with the liberals. GWB appointee voting with Obama appointees. Shocker. SCOTUS is owned just like the rest of the beltway gang.

I heard that it DID originate in a House bill, buried in amongst other things.

Crap, you might be right. Looks like they may have hijacked another bill!

From wikipedia----- "The Senate failed to take up debate on the House bill and instead took up H.R. 3590, a bill regarding housing tax breaks for service members.[157] As the United States Constitution requires all revenue-related bills to originate in the House,[158] the Senate took up this bill since it was first passed by the House as a revenue-related modification to the Internal Revenue Code. The bill was then used as the Senate's vehicle for their health care reform proposal, completely revising the content of the bill.[159] The bill as amended incorporated elements of earlier proposals that had been reported favorably by the Senate Health and Finance committees.
Passage in the Senate was temporarily blocked by a filibuster threat by Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson, who sided with the Republican minority. Nelson's support for the bill was won after it was amended to offer a higher rate of Medicaid reimbursement for Nebraska.[123] The compromise was derisively referred to as the "Cornhusker Kickback"[160] (and was later repealed by the reconciliation bill). On December 23, the Senate voted 60–39 to end debate on the bill, eliminating the possibility of a filibuster by opponents. The bill then passed by a party-line vote of 60–39 on December 24, 2009, with one senator (Jim Bunning) not voting.[161]
On January 19, 2010, Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown was elected to the Senate, having campaigned on giving the Republican minority the 41st vote needed to sustain a filibuster, even famously signing autographs as "Scott 41."[123][162][163]"

Nullification!

Or maybe a military coup?

Seriously. Are they not sworn to protect the U.S. Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic?

How about they fulfill their oath, invade the Capitol, arrest everyone and have a few tribunals? Reinstate constitutional law (and enforce it) and have new elections?

Sounds good to me.

Where is our military when we need them? Oh yeah, that's right. The very tyrants running the show right now have sent them all overseas. They can't uphold their oaths when they aren't here to do it. (Maybe that's why they were sent there in the first place? hmmm....?)

With all that they are doing, it appears that they are trying to initiate a physical revolution.

Keep your cool. Do not give them what they want.

LOL - And I'm supposed to vote GOP because of the damage O-bomb-ya can do with SCROTUS appointments.

LMFAO!

And the asshole GOP is just weeks away from nominating for president, the guy who invented this abomination.

So, it's come to this, the government can now tax you to live.

People back in the day used to scoff about how one day government would tax you to breathe.

LMFAO!

And nobody will do a fucking thing, other than bitch and grumble.

Here's Fifth, the decision totally removes a growing left-wing talking point that suddenly they must vote for Obama because of judges. The Supreme Court as a November issue for the left is gone. For the right? That sound you hear is the marching of libertarians into Camp Romney, with noses held, knowing that the libertarian and conservative coalitions must unite to defeat Obama and Obamacare.

LOL! Yeah, we are going to vote Romney alright after illegally stripping our delegates in Mass. and the treatment we've had to deal with.

Its only a 1% tax, which isn't too bad for me not making a large income. Would probably end up saving me money.

Having gone through the opinion, I am not going to beat up on John Roberts. I am disappointed, but I want to make a few points. John Roberts is playing at a different game than the rest of us. We’re on poker. He’s on chess.

Erik Ericson at "Red State".

LMFAO - Oh sweet Jesus, where did I hear that before???!!!!

LMFAO!!!!

I am going to make an unwelcome opinion.

It is our own fault that health care and insurance has become so pricey. We can't face death. We will spend millions just trying to live another month of two. If people were more realistic about life and death, and did not want every test and every medication available than insurance would not be so high. Yes, I am saying, let grandma die. Let her die with dignity and love..., rather that filled with a countless number of drugs, and hooked up to every machine imaginable.

I also think it sad that people need to be forced by law to take care of their own expenses.

Still... I do not want government involved in health care,. They have a horrible track record. SS, Medicare, even the Post office are all in trouble. Things are going to go from bad to worse, and there is enough blame to go around for everyone.

My 17 year old stepson made this decision for himself. I admire him more and more everyday for accepting the inevitable and choosing to die at home with the love of family and friends surrounding him rather than attempting to buy a few more months of life by continuing chemotherapy.

Relying on the state to secede ? LOL using the state for more state just gets you...more state.

We need a way for the individual to secede, is there a way ? :)

Yup, just like the income tax was just 1 percent at first.

Let the justifications and crawfishing begin.

LMFAO!!!
As long as you don't make over 75k a year income taxes are nothing. So tell me, do you make 75k every year? How does the income tax affect you?
