What's next? "Rep Paul has a pilot's license but chooses to ride instead"
lol AP had to adjust their story and make it longer and add in that Ron Paul doesn't take the pension plan and returns some money back but then try to use that against him.
"Paul boasts on his website about declining other congressional perks, such as a pension and all-expense-paid travel "junkets" that other lawmakers take. And he says he regularly returns money from his congressional account to the treasury.
But when it comes to his congressional travel, Paul has opted not to search for cheaper airfares that could mean returning more of his office account to the treasury, which uses any money returned by House or Senate members to help reduce the federal deficit."

I got the mod on this site in the comments trying to defend the article being on their website.
Hm, I wish he'd fly coach while spending tax dollars. Though I have no problem with him flying first class or charter jet while spending campaign money. We give him that money to get out there and campaign, and it's good to arrive fast.
WOW F@#*NG REALLY. they accuse him of not spending less so he can return MORE money to the treasury!?!? HOW MANY F**#NG people even RETURN money to the Ttreasury.

Um. Look for this trivial issue to come up in the debates. They're getting desperate.
Any 76 year old man should fly 1st class...do you know how hard it is to get in and out of a cramped economy seat, especially when the person in front of you leans their seat back? Also he is less likely to be heckled by passengers travelling first class.
Travel to and from Congress is paid for by the government. It's his money he can do with it whatever he wants. Maybe it's campaign fund raising or even from his personal account? Whats the problem? He's not costing tax payers anything by using his own money.
This is a major deal in Texas. Some people tried to dig deeper and figure out why it was costing so much and the governor got a law passed that nobody is allowed to look into his expenses until years later for "security reasons". The political scene in Texas is kind of insane right now.Rick Perry claims to be a fiscal conservative, yet he costs Texas taxpayers $400,000.00 a MONTH in security costs. Where's the AP story on that?
