Paul charged taxpayers nearly $52,000 on the more expensive tickets, or $27,621 more than the average Continental airfare for the flights between Washington and Houston, according to the AP’s review of his congressional expenses and average airfares compiled by the Department of Transportation.

Lol these guys are getting funnier by the day!

......aaaaaaaand returns $150,000 of his Congressional budget back to the American taxpayers.

This is News? Don't people at these different News Corps. have something better to report about.

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has been spending large amounts on airfare as a congressman, flying first class on dozens of taxpayer-funded flights to his home state. The practice conflicts with the image that Paul portrays as the only presidential candidate serious about cutting federal spending.

Good Lawd! It must be embarrassing to the spin doctors to not be able to find anything of worth to create their hack pieces. It must annoy them to no end.

So what do the other members of congress pay?
Maybe Ron should use those frequent flyer miles.

Clueless people, when buying last minute first class is many times all that is available to purchase, especially when flying to DCA.

I've bumped into Paul a couple of times, and actually those two times he was on the upgrade list as upgraded, not the FC paid travel, so this means he bought economy and upgraded on planned travel it is the buying first class only when last minute or flexibility required.

As a frequent flyer I live by the upgrade list :)

They are also totally clueless about how govt airfares have NOTHING to do with the listed airfare in most cases they are bid on a per city contract, Continental doesn't participate in this city bidding process but many times matches the airfares.
Tell me how many others are returning funds to the treasury year after year.....

What a cheap hit from clueless people

Have you ever paid attention to some of his early morning interviews which I presume are done from a room in whatever hotel Ron Paul stayed in the night before?

He doesn't stay in luxurious accommodations as far as I can tell.

if the other candidates are also using first class this kind of weakens this line of attack...
not to mention the Prez having airforce one private jet
The whole thing is becoming ridiculous.

I would HIGHLY doubt that any of the other candidates are even flying on commercial airlines at all.

Can anyone picture Romney flying coach? Yeah...didn't think so...

People also think 'why doesn't he fly southwest'

maybe making 50 stops to get there you need is not good :)
not to mention, southwest isn't even cheaper most of the time.
I've seen continental fares for first at the same price as southwest for their one class.
