Just ran off a census taker

okay okay.

Do you think the US Military must rely on Census Takers to confirm your GPS location in order to pinpoint your home?

If these Census lap dogs are able to find your house via physical address, you don't think the United States military can? Ever heard of longitude and latitude?

How about you guys stop worry about things you have no control over and get involved in politics and actually make a change. This blog means nothing.

it just makes it easier to have that data already available.
they only have so many satellites and drones to go around.

So you're telling me I have no control over my home, who gets access to it and what questions I answer?

Do these work?

That sounds an awful lot like, "If you have nothing to hide, then you should not be afraid of the PATRIOT Act."

Just posted this on my front gate tonight after reading this thread:

With all due respect, Gunny, I'm not sure if that is a good idea considering what the negative legal and financial consequences could be.

Has anyone tried to call the Census Bureau to see if you can be excluded from this part of the process?

I don't think the Gunny is laughing...

No, I am definitely not laughing.

However, from a legal standpoint, I'm beginning to think that the only thing they may be 'authorized' to GPS by law, is your mailbox. Isn't there something about federal property etc etc?

Yes, it does.

I tell you what, I don't care if I am a law abiding citizen...I don't care if you are, too.

But...What I DO care about is protecting you from anyone having your information to prove if you are or aren't.

THIS is why GPS matters.

Yeah, maybe it's paranoid...but, wasn't the CSA paranoid that Lincoln wanted to take away their rights? Isn't it paranoid to assume that the government would try to screw us.

Being paranoid is a right I am glad to act on- it's protection against apathy...against willingly allowing THEM to do what they want with me.

Harris_Census_GPS.jpg

The US Census Bureau is required to assess the nation's population and demographics every 10 years, and the next census will take place in 2010. In preparation for the census, 140,000 address canvassers or "listers" have begun fanning out across their assigned regions to update and verify addresses. The listers verify existing addresses, add new addresses, and document dwellings that might include multiple residents. This year, for the first time, canvassers are equipped with a handheld computer that includes built-in GPS. The GPS (shown in photo) was custom-designed for the census by the Harris Company, and built by HTC. Originally intended for the main census, it appears that use of the handheld computer/GPS will be limited only to this year's listing phase, due to training and technical constraints.

They are perfectly welcome to take a Constitutional Census. I will even invite them in and serve tea. When I see them I will welcome them and be friendly, not intimidating.

But they will NOT GPS my house. I will NOT try to fight city hall later to take my coordinates out of the system.

And you shouldn't have to. Period.

ummmm....Did you miss my last post?

Why are you letting them on your property anyway?

I trust you take advantage of your 2nd amendment right, no?

That sounds an awful lot like, "If you have nothing to hide, then you should not be afraid of the PATRIOT Act."

WHAT??

Do you even know me?

You have your privacy to hide! However, the fact of the matter is public roads are public roads. Anyone is allowed to travel on public roads. BUT, the second you let them on YOUR property, the joke's on you.

i completely agree, but how would you go about this?

Because my property is a working farm: we sell eggs, produce, firewood, maple syrup among other things. Therefore we have people coming and going.

Somebody drove up to the house and I went up and talked to them.

The conversation went as I described it in my OP, I told this person to leave and they did.

You stated that you were a "law abiding" person.

So am I. Drawing my sidearm on a person who was complying with my request to leave and not a threat to life or limb would be unlawful in NH and leave me liable to a felony charge.

According to the following article from April 6th, 2009

US Census GPS in Neighborhoods Now.

The US Census Bureau is collecting a database of GPS coordinates per household during indexing.

Now this may be innocuous; but obtaining a "precise targetable location within 3 feet" is not a Constitutionally delegated census power. And even if the US Government only ever had our best interests at heart while collecting this data, what about the next administration? or the next?

This is akin to the Domestic Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act, to the USA PATRIOT Act, to the FISA Amendment, to the lifting of Posse Comitatus, and the revocation of Habeas Corpus. At every step when we stood to oppose it we were told, "If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about."

Right.

Now that Obama is in charge, the Department of Homeland Security is issuing threat bulletins listing "People who believe in smaller government" as violent militia, and passing these bulletins onto the police through DHS Federal and State "Fusion Centers"

By being 'officially listed' as terroristic threats, now the Government employs the Domestic Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act (thank you Bush), thus permitting all the provisions of PATRIOT and FISA to be applied against Republicans by a fully Democratic Washington DC.

Not so funny now is it?

But hey, remember. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Right? Remember that when the State Trooper has his pistol pointed at your brain stem because he got spooked by your "END THE FED" bumper sticker...

Let them??
The last one walked up a 1/4mile snowmobile trail.
I caught him headed for my barn, he didn't even knock on my door and ask.

If there was ever a time I wished I could have a gun,,,
I would love to have something with a 1/4 mile reach.

:mad::mad:

That is probably one of the scariest things I have heard recently.

EVERYONE knows how I feel about government.LOL....they would come for e directly, I am sure...and knowing where to find me isn't cool.

Like I said, not even the mail man can find my house, only my box....I don't have a legal address, only a 911 address which is needed for utilities, however, CPS found my house EASILY...drove right up to the front door and knocked.

THAT scares me.

 So much for efficiency, technology making gov't work cheaper, and limited gov't. I guess the census is part of the unemployment fix in the stimulus package also, since an additional $1billion was given to the Census Bureau in the package.

excerpt from US Census reaches new heights in costs, staffing

The total operation and analysis of the 2010 Census will cost more than $14 billion by the time of its completion in 2012, making it the most expensive head count in American history, according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office.

The estimated price tag for next year's Census will cover what many consider the largest peacetime mobilization of government employees in history. Mesenbourg, who predicted the total cost could reach $15 billion, said 140,000 temporary Census workers will "walk almost every street in America," to check 145 million addresses. Recent feedback from more than 8,100 local governments added more than 8 million addresses to the Census list, he said. Next year more than 600,000 temporary workers will perform follow-up visits with the estimated 47 million American households that do not respond to Census questionnaires. The Bureau also will hire more than 600 staffers to reach out to local governments and community groups to encourage participation.

The economic stimulus package granted $1 billion to the Census Bureau for final preparations, money Mesenbourg said will be spent primarily to cover next year's staffing costs. President Obama's fiscal 2010 budget proposes at least $4 billion for next year's operations, far less than the $7 billion to $8 billion it requested.

Okay so I am confused as to where you thought I was telling you that you have no control over your home, who gets access to it and what questions you have to answer.....

Besides, based on Article 19 of your State's constitution, I would hope that you would be suspicious of anyone, other than a uniformed officer(if not more-so), approaching your land. If you chose not to, again, the joke's on YOU.

You can site all the codes you want. If they violate the Constitution, they are null and void.
