Jon Stewart pokes fun at Rand's minority outreach

GOP didn't leave blacks, it was the other way around. Dem won majority of AA vote for wh since FDR.

It does take courage for Rand to speak to predominately black audiences. He will get hooted and jeered at first, but eventually there will be those who will listen and get on board. Right now as we speak, there are plenty of black folks who support Ron Paul and his ideas. It is just going to take wading into the deep water and taking a little flack in order to reach the rest. Think about it. What group has the most to gain by ending wars of aggression, the war on (some) drugs, fixing the dollar crisis, etc. Black people are not stupid, they just need to hear how these ideas are in their best interest. Rand and Ron Paul are not racist, but those who would discredit them are trying to paint them as such in order to turn the black audience against them. But it won't work forever.

MLK was a Republican

Meh. He maybe been registered but MLK jr. Was a socialist as far economics was concerned. Now AG Gaston, who backed the civil rights movement in bham was a self made conservative, but he was a registered democrat for some bizarre reason.

some of what I saw was terrible. Haven't seen most of it though. I think Ron would have done a much better job in that setting. If Rand is going to pander, he needs to figure out how to do it to more than just dyed in the wool repubs. Ron identifies with people by admitting the wrongs that have been done by both parties. Rand shouldn't have tried to tote the party mantra in there, he should have identified on an individual level...like ron does.

But, but, but John Stewart is on our side.

That was pretty brutal. He dedicated the entire opening segment to it.

My favorite part was when they subtly transitioned onto the topic of "N*****-rigging" effortlessly. Nice touch to the Rand Paul story....

That presentation was lame in content and delivery. Cringeworthy to watch. Did their old writers find better jobs somewhere? Or is there another writers strike going on?

Rand's speech is what happens when you have to walk a thin line between toeing the party line and trying to spread the message of liberty. It's kind of painful to watch him try to sell the Republican party while Ron Paul's speech at Oberlin demonstrates how both parties are basically one and the same.

Rand's speech was amazing, except for every time he tried to throw the Republican party a life line.

Rand Paul's speech couldn't have been less offensive. It was intelligent, well-reasoned, meaningful, and sincere. Of course the media is going to pick the one or two moments that seemed awkward when viewed out of context and focus on them, and then liken the entire speech to racist nonsense.

The "yada yada yada" part was on point and funny.

Stewart's main critique was of the attempt to reconcile black voters with the Republican party.

Given our recent experiences with the Republican party during RP's 2012 campaign, perhaps some of you are suffering from amnesia.

Why the hell did Rand go to Howard as a salesman for the GOP? Lets hope he's wisely hedging his bets.

Exactly, Stewart is pointing out what we've known for a long time. This republican party is who the dems used to be. The neocons are the same racist libs that came to the republican party and started this crap. What Stewart is pointing out is the Republicans need to proudly disown the racist to reconcile.

Can you name a member of the Republican Party who is openly racist?

Actually I thought that was pretty good for Rand, coming from Stewart. Especially the end bit with the "black perspective correspondent". The stuff it made fun of was trivial and the mitigating items were substantial and open to further discussion.

I wonder if he made fun of union backed Colbert-Busch for getting ridiculed for taking trying to take credit for Boeing's announcement of new jobs (even though the union they fled is backing her) and then wrongly accusing Mark Sanford of taking money from that same union?

I am guessing probably not.

Fairness? accuracy in reporting? dont you know? he is just a comedian, he is doing satire. So nobody really takes him seriously except the 1000's of college students who have a hard time determining when satire ends and slander begins.

Sorry, can't polish this turd enough to turn it into a positive.
