Jon Stewart pokes fun at Rand's minority outreach

He said he likes Rand Paul in the segment. He also wasn't attacking Rand (well maybe a few of the more awkward moments) but was attacking the idea of Republican outreach to black people, in general. It's satire and he is liberal. It could have been much much worse.

Actually I thought that was pretty good for Rand, coming from Stewart. Especially the end bit with the "black perspective correspondent". The stuff it made fun of was trivial and the mitigating items were substantial and open to further discussion.

Well, I generally agree with this but you never want a negative story, soundbite, or feeling, to surround your candidate. Regardless of if it is satire or not. You want people to think pleasant things about your candidate, and to have absolutely nothing unpleasant to consider, even in jest.

some of what I saw was terrible. Haven't seen most of it though. I think Ron would have done a much better job in that setting. If Rand is going to pander, he needs to figure out how to do it to more than just dyed in the wool repubs. Ron identifies with people by admitting the wrongs that have been done by both parties. Rand shouldn't have tried to tote the party mantra in there, he should have identified on an individual level...like ron does.

The portion I watched sounded a bit preachy and like he was lecturing the kids. I would have preferred that Rand appealed to their self reliance and patriotism and inspired and motivated them. Lit the fire of Liberty within them!

I'll try to remember that the next time I am talking to Stewart/Maddow loving leftists, who for some strange reason believe that Rand is the devil incarnate. They actually believe he is the worst Republican. Bush, Rove, McCain, etc. are lesser demons in their eyes.
