I am going to back Cruz.

seriously.
It doesn't matter who you support. Your vote means nothing, your time and money mean nothing.
Your efforts are only important in your mind, not to the presidential race.
The only thing of any importance is that your behavior is in concert with your values.
The state has convinced you that your vote matters more than your integrity.
Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.

Your vote is a good indication of your preference. Unambiguously, klamanth and their ilk prefer statism. If you sent your money to Cruz, one ought to still 'vote one's conscience' when the curtain is closed. In the case of klamanth, I doubt neither money nor influential public endorsements nor special interest is at stake. Rather, it is a lack of morality revealing itself (not to mention a lack of strategy ... it gains them nothing to support Cruz).

Opening a new tax base is extremely dangerous- even if rates start out slightly lower overall. Just like opening the income tax base in 1913 was extremely dangerous... even though it was marketed as a tiny tax.

But it eliminates payroll taxes, which are the biggest tax.

THIS!!!! as i posted in another thread, i am so pissed at our supporters in iowa so much i can barely see. fucking lazy asses cant get out for one day and cast a damn vote??? this day could have sealed the deal for rand. instead, its going to be more of the same uphill battle hoping that others drop out first. fucking hell i dont know how anyone could have missed the god damned vote today!

HB thinks we live in our mothers basement. so.
I neg repped him for you. :)

and + repped you.

This is a very good point.

More like I begrudgingly chose Trump from a comprehensive list of pros and cons. Plus, Trump's enemies (Glenn Beck, NRO, Karl Rove) are impressive to say the least. The entire field is lackluster. Rand wanted to play it safe like the quiet professor and not ruffle any feathers.
Yeah, and then you begrudgingly joined the Paul forums yesterday to begrudgingly push Trump.

I don't believe that either Cruz or Rand's tax plans actually contain a VAT tax.

Just perform a simple Google search on Rand Paul or Cruz and the VAT. There are plenty of MSM articles discussing it, including NYT. The National Review opposed it on Conservative principles and for once I agree with them.

The Rand and Cruz' VAT is hidden in the final sale of the product so the consumer only sees the price increase. There is no separate VAT deduction since the flat tax is applied to business purchases.

For working stiffs it might be offset by the lower income tax. The problem with that is many spend more money than they take in therefore for them it is a tax increase. For the unemployed, those living off investments like retires or low income it is a tax increase. A candidate proposing such a thing would never get elected in a Presidential election.

I remember Ron being against the VAT since he did not want to give the government a new revenue stream that is a hidden tax in the cost of goods that would be difficult to get rid of since Socialists would just keep raising the tax to expand the welfare state. The same reason that Reagan opposed it.

I think Rand put too much stock in the policies and limited success of Steve Forbes campaign believing he would be hailed for his tax plan. As we know it fell flat, likely due to the VAT and in my opinion was the one of several reasons he dropped in the polls around the same time he released it.

Push Trump? I'm not pushing anyone. Everyone else is free to arrive at their own conclusions. I particularly hate neoconservative kingmakers and globalists, so I am naturally inclined to move towards Trump, even though I disagree with him. That's one of the reasons I admire Ron Paul.

Well, it is kind of ironic that you are supporting a liberal yankee, considering your user name.:p

Yes, politics makes for strange bedfellows.
He's going to make the Union great again.

Don't sweat it, from what I have been told it is the game a few people play here. I finally made the effort to start posting recently and received several angry messages that I support Trump in the reputation system. It was odd since I was defending Michael Scheuer and the discussion had nothing to do with Trump.

Oddly no one seems to have a problem with members promoting Cruz. The OP for example is long time member that has been promoting Cruz as a second choice for awhile now. Now he is promoting him as his first choice and gets a free pass while Rand is still in the race. Personally I think Cruz angers me more and is the real phony establishment candidate this cycle.

At face value, we should adore Ted Cruz. Hence, the problem. He has major authenticity problems. Take the facebook post and photo below.
How can any knowledgeable person let this one go by? The right handman to the Rockefellers!?!?
