Grassroots TV ads for Iowa - It's on

I also have an idea called "Thank you Ron Paul." It cuts to different people (from every age and range), thanking Ron Paul for his personal efforts to restore America. At no point does it say "vote Ron Paul" I've found people are generally more susceptible to messages when they think it's their own idea. Very rough example of the ad below:

(Uplifting music in background, like high tide, little brighter maybe)

First person: Thank you Ron Paul
Second person: For teaching us we need
Thirst person: sound money and a solid foundation
Fourth person: for our children
Fifth person: and our children's children
Sixth person: Thank you Ron Paul
Seventh person: For believing in American
Eight person: and never voting for more spending
(and so on, you get the idea)

There could be different versions of this, with completely different people each time, to keep it fresh for viewers. This would be very cheap to produce and could be even cut and sent from people to show authenticity. Positive, refreshing, creates intrigue and make's people think about what he has done for this country.

Sounds great. Can we end with a child (or several children) saying thank you?

I've got a terribly cute pair of girls, 4 and 2 years old. If someone is putting something like this together, PM me, my girls love camera's and camera's love them. :D

An entire spot could be done in this manner (with kids delivering the message)... using kids to say all the lines with mommy, daddy and the grand parents standing behind them. Might make for a real 'heart strings' effect.

I also think it is critical to have a spot that speaks directly to the viewer. By this I mean on subject areas that affect them directly and would get their attention. Terms like 'sound money' would need to be reworked to focus on the effects. The term would be lost on most viewers. Other terms like 'fiat money' or sayings like 'end the fed' could easily be misunderstood. Instead, a short statement reflecting the BENEFITS to the viewer.

Remember "it's the economy, stupid"? That would seem to be the most obvious message to deliver. But, the message needs to be about the benefits that RP would deliver... not how its done. "Nobody wants to see how sausage is made" but most people really like the taste. We need to sell them on the taste... not the process.

There is an old advertising adage... sell the sizzle, not the steak. I know a lot of purists here hate the idea... but, it works. We need to go with what works. We need to keep the message simple and understandable... keep the target audience in mind and show them the personal benefits to them. Make it personal and address the issues that matter to them.

A general 'feel good' ad may not be the best way to go. A more direct message, connecting to the viewer about issues that matter to them personally seems to me to be the better method. The 'feel good' spots can be inspirational, if you can get the audience. They often turn into background noise because of their general nature. A spot addressing an issue of specific interest is much more likely to get their notice and to get them to listen... and take additional action.

This is were some serious research would be a really good thing. What are the main issues of the target audience? After making those determinations a proper message could be structured to achieve maximum results.

I think an introduction ad is a good idea, but I also think it should focus on his predictions. In theory, this should be pretty easy - 30 seconds of footage of empty storefronts and people in a foodstamp line or whatever, and a voice over. This has to talk about the economy I would think? Or are the social issues still what's going to drive this straw poll... This is where it'd be nice to have the campaign's polling info!

"The media always tries to kill the messenger
So when Ron Paul told us that the housing bubble was coming
And that a financial collapse was inevitable
And that Obama's stimulus bill wouldn't save the economy
They said he was wrong
But he was right
Who would you rather have in the White House?
Somebody who PREDICTED, and warned about the problem
Or somebody or helped create it... "

I was figuring that an introduction to Ron Paul would have his predictions in it. (I have not read the whole thread, maybe people are talking about something different)

This might be going too far... so, don't beat up on me too badly:

Ad starts with a bold headline and voice over the graphics that read:
RON PAUL IS A WACKO
Man standing in front of a farm house with a foreclosure notice
Man: They said Ron Paul was a wacko when he warned us about the housing bubble
Woman standing in front of a bank building (or big investment bank)
Woman: They said Ron Paul was a wacko when he predicted the financial collapse.
Man standing in front of an unemployment office:
Man: They said Ron Paul was a wacko when he told is the stimulus plan would not work.
Parents standing in front of a military cemetery:
Mother: They said Ron Paul was a wacko when he foresaw the danger of 'nation building'.

Back to voice over and graphic... graphic reads... "It's Time for Ron Paul"
VO: It's time to stop listening to the people who got us in this mess... it's time for Ron Paul

Now, the 'wacko' part may be too strong... but there is that perception out there and we could defuse it by addressing it in our own terms. This could be a risky course but it could be softened.

Instead of 'wacko' we could replace it with "we didn't listen when Ron Paul said..."
Then end with "It's time to listen to Ron Paul"

This ad seems exactly like what you are trying to accomplish..

This is actually a pretty good ad. While it needs some updating... and a stronger 'action statement' it is really not bad. I would suggest a rewrite of the copy to make it more personal than general. Instead of talking about 'America' and 'great nation' take it to the viewer's level and attempt to address the individual viewer... not in general, but how the issue is affecting them... personally!

Way cool. Please end it on an up note. Like with an eagle flying over the plains, or a mountain... something along those lines. You get the gist. Kind of like Ron Paul would bring America back up. We want to pull at people's emotional strings and give them hope.

I love this idea. +rep when I get my powers back.

Edit: Forgot to post the quote.

Lots of great ideas. Keep em coming, I'm loving this. We are actually building an AD campaign.

Ron Paul for decades warns US of the outta control spending and borrowing of government would make our money worth less and destroy our standard of living...

Ron Paul warned US of the FEDERAL RESERVE and Washington DC continuous counterfeiting & borrowing causes Inflation...

Ron Paul said government steals the wealth of the people... are you better off today than yesterday?

"Its morning again in America" (sunrise over american icon, mt Rushmore, statue of liberty or golden gate)

"Theres more people (shot of illegals jumping a fence) and fewer jobs (a couple in bathrobs stress over a kitchen table covered in paperwork)..."

"Inflation is causing the prices of gas and food to skyrocket (shot of a ticker at a pump zoom past $100)"

"over 3000 families today, will lose their homes" (family loading an old stationwagon from the 90s)

"This afternoon military families will pray their loved ones wont be put in jeopardy by Obama's interventionist foreign policy that streatches our troops too thin" (soldier with old people in a church)

"Only one Presidential candidate predicted this recession, and only one can get us out: RON PAUL"(heroic close up of ron)

"He has an immaculate record in congress for voting to stop spending and lower taxes" (him speaking on floor of the house)

"Hes the only candidate whos served in the military and was endorsed by Ronald Reagan when he entered politics" (Ron's air force pic)

"Its morning again in America, and its time for a real leader" (sunrise, American flag, Ron Paul in big letters across the screen)

(blue background, outline of minuteman holding gadsden flag on the left, 'Paid for by independent grassroots tea party activists' written to the right)

Can we somehow incorporate a couple seconds to online poker players and bartenders? The common sense candidate...

we're havin' fun now.

Wow that Reagan ad is great. Great. It made me feel so optimistic, secure, happy.

Why do I feel that way about Ron Paul? Because of what he's done and who he is.

My take on the script is that it should stay with the positive vibe of the Reagan ad.

"This is what morning in America really is" (Reagan's morning)
"Here is the man who can make America have mornings like that again and why" (Ron Paul, consistent, integrity, character, sound, stable, strong, trustworthy, honest, frugal,...)

I think it's a good idea, but the most important thing for the Ames Straw poll is voter turn out, if we can just get nearly all the people who voted for Ron Paul in the Iowa Caucus to vote in the Ames Straw poll we'll win for sure.

I'm on dailypaul all the time. Never come here much, got linked over here, forgot I even had an account here lol

Google Moderator allows you to create a series about anything that you are interested in discussing and open it up for people to submit questions, ideas, or suggestions. These are called submissions. Anyone can come to the site and submit a question, idea, or vote, and anyone can vote. Google Moderator shows you a question in the box with the blue background. This is called the Featured Question. A topic is a way to break up your series into smaller, more manageable topics of discussion. You can have one topic, or multiple topics. For example, if you create a series of 'Book clubs' for your organization, topics could be 'Fiction,' 'Non-fiction,' or 'Auto-biographies.'

Lots of arguing in this thread... I read through most of it, but could someone please inform a newcomer to this thread what has been accomplished so far?
