I've never voted LP before, and i used to be a neocon (those were dark days), so I have to be honest in that I dont know much about these two guys.

I know that Johnson was the former GOP Arizona Gov, did some good stuff, switched to LP in 2012.....the basics ect. I also know that he seems to be one of these new age millennial hipster libertarians....he just puts off the vibe to me; I'd love to be proven wrong on that. Lastly, I know that he is proabortion, and that is a pretty huge turnoff for a guy like me...who thinks that the unborn are living beings, and to abort is to murder.

With Peterson, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews. Outside of his vague website and a few youtube videos, I know nothing about him.

Who do you prefer and why?

Also, what is up with the Constitution Party's serious theocratic vibe? Do they have a good candidate?

Teach me sensei :)

Austin Peterson is a little prick. He is wholly unprofessional and is not taking running for President seriously. His FB page over the past several months is evidence of that.

Gary Johnson, while I may vote for him in the general election, isn't exactly someone I am going coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs over either. I question how serious he takes his running for President as well with his unprofessional website and his lack of communication and upfrontness with his supporters over the past 6 months. (i.e. will he run, will he not run, how is that pot company of his?). With that being said, Gary is probably the most electable of the entire bunch running given his time as governor and ever so slight name recognition.

Damn. Why cant we just have someone...anyone legitimate and impactuful to run independently.

Gary Johnson was Gov of New Mexico.

I can only really tell you about Gary Johnson. Johnson is promoting "big tent" libertarianism, where he identifies libertarianism as being economically conservative and socially liberal. This strategy seems to bring in some curious people, who want to know more about libertarianism. However, once many learn of some of the finer points about libertarianism and even LP positions, they often get frustrated. I get the strategy, however, I would be more direct about what the LP is and what it is not.
