Gary Johnson Gary Johnson Is Seeking the LP Nomination

I saw an article today that the Florida LP party is setting its date for convention to a date early enough that those who vote for Ron Paul as GOP in the election won't have time to change back to be LP delegates. I guess they don't care about having candidates Ron Paul supporters would like.

As soon as the GOP race is over I won't be switching back to the LP Party.

They get it right once in a while (Ron Paul, Harry Browne). Darn shame the LP is so ironically named. :(

I think Harry Browne was my first exposure to modern Libertarianism. I found his views shocking then, but for some reason they resonated with me in a strange way I couldn't express (I was a big Dole guy then...funny I know).

My first real exposure to the ideas of libertarianism was Michael Badnarik. Back then I was brainwashed neocon though. Then I shift over to being a "progressive" in the vein of Dennis Kucinich or Ralph Nader. I've been anti-war and have believe our status quo was corrupt and horrible, it just took Dr. Paul to cure me of my non-liberty positions.:)

Trying to upload a photo of Gary. Photo's too big. Will try later.

Ron Paul needs to get the LP behind him before its too late. The GOP will not allow Ron to be their candidate whether or not he gets enough votes/delegates to seal the nomination. The Republican establishment will make sure Ron Paul is not their nominee, and do everything in their power to prevent it. How about a Ron Paul/Gary Johnson (L) ticket. I know most here will disagree with me, but that's my opinion.

I've been reading comments on Johnson's Facebook. I have come to the conclusion that his base is made up of the irrational wing of libertarianism.

Anyone still left in the Libertarian Party is basically people we will never get to support Ron. A Paul/Johnson ticket will never happen because Ron Paul will only put a pro-life person in his cabinet.

bottom line it will not matter, If the gop does not nominate Ron Paul. The gop will lose. doesn't matter if ron paul runs 3rd party or not. The gop will lose if they alienate the only conservative running in the gop by not nominating him!! NO ONE BUT PAUL!! due to lack of viable gop product!

Ron was asked about what criteria he would use to determine Supreme Court appointees in a recent Des Moines Register editorial board interview, with abortion opposition explicitly stated in the question. He responded that he would determine their qualifications by how they felt about property rights, the bill of rights, necessary and proper clause, interstate commerce clause, and the general welfare clause.

I thought when it was revealed that Ron signed that anti-abortion pledge that it was simply the campaign signing his name to a pledge without consulting Ron for the purpose of reaching out to Republicans, and his answers in that interview and in several others (including the Thanksgiving forum) have more or less confirmed my suspicion.

Regardless of their personal opinions on the morality of abortion, Paul and Johnson offer the exact same policy prescription on the issue - devolve it to the states and overturn RvW.

As for Johnson's decision to seek the LP nomination, I applaud it. If RP ends up winning the GOP nod I'd like to think that Johnson and the LP would demure, but it's good to have Gary in position in case RP fails to take the reins from Romney/Gingrich.

A Paul/Johnson third party ticket, at this stage in the game, has the potential to really break through.
