Can he rescind his resignation from congress? We need him there.

Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) formally withdrew his name for consideration for the Attorney General position in President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration, asserting Thursday there is “no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle.”

“I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday,” Gaetz said in post in X. “I appreciate their thoughtful feedback – and the incredible support of so many.”

Gaez went on to say his nomination has become too much of a distraction, and therefore, he is withdrawing his name from consideration for the highly sought position.

What a mess and it should not have happened.

I don't see why he couldn't rescend his nomination. RFK JR. should be AG or head of the EPA in my opinion and Dr. Ben Carson or Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo should be over HHS but nobody asked me.

That fucking sucks.

Trending towards appointing another Deep State minion.

I'm reading he can keep his seat in the new congress as representative elect. But if he does then the house ethics report gets released.

Seeing people online saying Ken Paxton should be AG and can then appoint Gaetz to special counsel.

Yes, he was elected to another term. So he could just take his seat in January if he wanted to. Johnson said he does not want the report released. I don't know if that changes if Gaetz comes back to the house.

Mike Lee would likely do good work in the role, but I'd hate to lose his voice in the Senate.

The next Attorney General will be a NeoCon.
No doubt the voices from the NeoCons/RINHOs have been unfortunately louder.

This. I don't want to cannibalize from our own good lineup. It's hard enough getting them in there in the first place. Anti Globalist mentioned Paxton and I would think there might be other states with good AGs who have the experience. Certainly there are an endless supply of lawyers out there to choose from.

From what I read about Gaetz and the 17 year old, she and the other hookers advertised on some sugar daddy website and she presented herself as of legal age. Once Gaetz found out her age, he stopped engaging with her. Maybe that's why she testified against him. Those ladies were paid big money to do what they wanted to do and for the feds to classify this as sex trafficking of a minor is the usual hyperbolic bullshit. Nevertheless, hiring hookers is seedy and he should have warned Trump that it was likely to blow up. Same for Hegseth and the thing he was involved in (which looks much worse, to me). I'm just disgusted that the Trump team didn't vet better.

Oh, and how about Tom Fitten for AG?
