Freddie Gray severed his own spinal cord

You once again display your childishness with your first sentence, you know what I meant. No one goes to jail for one beer, and I'm sure the percentage of people who are even asked to take a breathalyzer after one beer is so rare it's astronomical. Just give it up already. Let me guess, you got wasted drunk, got busted, and now you are sore at the cops for your irresponsibility and all the trouble you got in, am I close, if not that, some other situation which was likely 100% you're fault, but hey, don't blame yourself when you can blame someone else.

Happens all the time, I've posted numerous items to that effect.

I'm not taking a side. I want to know what happened. It probably was cop malfeasance, but you never know.

Could be, I'm not taking one either, only pointing out that one of the things people here were so dead set sure was true, was not true, I quake to think of being an innocent man in front of jury in this country.

I don't agree with BAC thing myself, first off because I think it is absurdly low, 2nd because I think the coordination tests tell a better story. I'm not interested in arresting anyone who had a few beers while working on a buddy's car then headed home.

You may not be, but the system is.

As well you should.

By my reckoning, I figure roughly 30 percent of people in prison are innocent.

Railroaded into prison by corrupt cops and prosecutors, mostly.

Thank you. Finally, someone else who gets it, that cops don't ever accuse innocent people of crimes they didn't commit. If you get accused of a crime by a cop, you are basically guilty by definition, because if you were innocent, why would the cop accuse you in the first place?

You really are ignorant aren't you. Most of the cops I know hate sitting in court, paid or not, believe it or not they have families and like to enjoy their day off as much as the next person.

The bulk of the money they bring goes to the cities/townships to pay for all the nanny stuff the citizens want and the politician promise to get elected, but yeah, let's show how stupid we all are and blame it on the every day cop.

Oh, FYI, I worked in a jail so I know many cops, I also know 4 of the cops in my town just got laid off - so much for doubling their salaries, dumbass.

Ah, so you were a tax tick. Glad my county taxes didn't pay your sorry ass salary.

As someone who worked in a jail, I disagree. It does happen, I saw it once, I don't mean I saw them do it, I just mean I saw the guy get free, he never did look like a criminal, I even remember asking him what he was in for.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I said!

Most cases get pleaded out and never even get to court, I'm not saying a cop isn't happy to see more money in his paycheck, but it's not something they are jumping for joy about at the time and I have heard them plenty of times say "F---the money" because they are missing a family event or want to go home and go to bed after being on midnights, I usually felt the same way BTW. Every cop is different of course, but I can say I saw no big push by any of them to intentionally get court dates. Some of you just take things to an extreme, I have no pity for DUI drivers.

Now I know you are talking out your ass. No one except the extremely connected have been able to plead out of a DUI in...oh, about ten years. Except for cops. they don't even get ticketed.

This is my last post to you, first off, we weren't just talking of DUI's you moron, 2nd, most first offense DUI's get very little punishment, but hey, I guess I'll take your baseless accusations over what I saw with my own eyes many times, just shut up already, you haven't made a point all day.

I base that on the roughly ten percent of death row inmates who have been exonorated and released over the years.

And that is supposed to represent the ne plus ultra of American jurisprudence.

If they get it wrong ten percent of the time in capital punishment cases, then I figure around 25-30 percent of the general prison population is probably innocent.

And in the world's biggest prison system, that's a lot of people.

If it hurts it means I'm right on target. The kitchen door is that way >>>>>>>>>>>>..

I am not childish but you show your naïveté. Perhaps in your Podunk town that's not what happens but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. All a cop has to have is what he considers probable cause. If you have had one beer and get stopped for a tail light being out and he smells it on your breath, he can haul your ass out of the car. And no. I have never been arrested if that's what you are implying nor do I even drink but I live in a city with the highest DWI rate in the country. If I were you I would stop making assumptions.

The FBI engaged in a massive science-based conspiracy to alter and distort forensic evidence for over two decades, the agency has now publicly admitted. "The Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit gave flawed testimony in almost all trials in which they offered evidence against criminal defendants over more than a two-decade period before 2000," reports the Washington Post in a rare moment of truth-telling.

Astonishingly, 93% of the forensic scientists in the FBI's hair analysis unit "overstated forensic matches in ways that favored prosecutors in more than 95 percent of the 268 trials reviewed so far," reports WashPost. To pull this off, they used "scientific jargon" to bamboozle juries, making their evidence sound convincing even though it was entirely invalid. As usual, this science-based fabrication of false evidence was offered by egotistical, self-assured FBI scientists who sounded convincing even though they were misleading the court with false testimony.

Didn't make assumptions, made a guess, there's a difference, once again you must twist my words to try and make an argument, as for your proclamations, I would hear those people come into the jail full of all kinds of stories, then I'd watch the squad car cam, oh man, amazing how none of that crap they said was true, no, they weren't just going 5 over, they were going 25 over, no they weren't polite, they were cussing and screaming, on and on. I take people's tales of woe with a grain of salt. Likewise, I worked in a city little one, learn to read.

Being in the biz in the past, I am a firm believer in polygraphs, not as the sole determiner, still do forensics, DNA, etc, but give 5 polygraphs, 2 from the police, 3 from the private sector chosen by the accused, I know everyone's got some urban legends about polygraphs being beaten, but they are mostly untrue, I've seen them, they work and are far more accurate than witness testimony for sure.

I'm a grown woman possibly old enough to be your mother so you can dispense with the condescending labels. I really don't want to go West Texas on you, but I will. You have no clue what goes on outside your own little world apparently.

This article doesn't mention it, but the primary complaint against this officer was that she would purposely hold her finger over a hole on the breathalyzer machine to get higher readings. She was officer of the year and got a bunch of awards for getting several hundred DUIs a year before this big investigation went down.
