Drudge - Shock Poll: Obama 42%, Ron Paul 41%

If they do that, we hold the nuclear option. Third Party. And that would be the straw that broke the Camel's back for Ron, IMHO. Also, Rand, if elected, will already be in the Senate for another 5 years, and would not suffer the blowback.

Look, I'm a diehard Ron Paul supporter. I want the country to listen to the man and his ideas and debate them amongst themselves. No more false left/right paradigm as others have stated earlier. I want to be clear that I am for Ron Paul 2012 through the GOP by all means necessary! I feel that represents the best chance for Paul in terms of the General Election. I'm wondering what happens in the debates now in terms of whether every question will continue to be loaded and how much time he will be allowed to respond compared to other candidates.

But I also want to be clear that if the GOP tries the same crap they pulled in 2007, fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, to hell with you. The only real conservative is right there in front of you, and he's the only one actually BRINGING people into the GOP, however diverse they are. We all know that RP is the Grand Uniter. And I must admit that I suspect America would much better place if the GOP/DNC were both weakened by a Third Party win that shocks the world.

100% Agree! If Ron Paul runs 3rd party. it will only be because the gop gave him and us no choice but to run 3rd Party!! the only ones to blame if Ron Paul ran outside the gop is the gop!!

Medicare and Medicaid and Obamacare will be repealed and people will die. Poor people will starve. Poor people will become homeless. Social Security checks will stop coming.

If Ron Paul is elected president, we'll have rotting garbage piling in the streets. Classrooms will be packed with an excessive amount of students like sardines in a can. Blacks will be beaten like it's Selma, Alabama. Terrorists will be given carte blanche treatment to plot and execute heinous acts of violence.

Did I miss anything? ;):D

I think 75% of the neo-conservatives are unconvertible

If you're talking about politicians and pundits, I'd say the % is higher than that. If you're talking about voters, I'd say it's substantially lower. When push comes to shove, and the economy is headed that direction - many will forego *some* bases overseas for fiscal responsibility. And when they realize intervention doesn't work anyway, most will forego the empire.

Remember, former CIA Michael Scheuer, one of the world's leading experts on Osama Bin Laden, has a website and is on RP's side as far as foreign policy:
http://www.non-intervention.com

The 2008 reaction by voters to RP was in large part a result of not having enough time to have anything but a knee-jerk reaction. He's been all over FOX and other stations since though, and the facts are on our side. Occupation costs too much, and it doesn't work.

I have a feeling that most people who describe themselves as moderates, and a sizable numer of people who describe themselves as conservative, could be described as libertarian. Remember that there are a lot of non-voters, many of which feel disenfranchised by the current system.

This is so underappreciated.

It's been a long time since 'the sleeping giant' has been awakened. Only Paul has a chance to pull the disenfranchised (those who haven't voted in a long time) into the arena again in substantial numbers.

And he dominates the campuses. We're in excellent shape!

I think what Coulter is saying is that if Ron Paul gets the nomination, she'll support the Republican nominee.

beck and coulter getting behind RP? are you people high? when the time comes and the primary heats up these shills will begin an all out assault on RP and prop up Gingrich or DeMint or more likely Romney. The establishment media is far too afraid of what changes would really take place if RP was a front runner. They talk about restoring liberty and rights but when it's crunch time they'd rather stick with biz as usual. Lets hope the tea party movement grows louder and larger and sticks to policy and principles avoids the MSM/Fox News takeover.

Can we possibly do a group buy on Ron Paul 2012 bumper stickers?! I just did a brief search and found some, but 250 of them would run about $850. I can't afford that right now! Help!!

As a Democrat, I see Ron Paul as one of the few truly principle-driven Republicans currently on the scene. Unlike the others, he doesn’t make base appeals to fear and hatred, there’s no doubt he would choose country over party, and his political declarations are in line with his past actions. I wish more Republicans would take lessons from Congressman Paul. He elevates the debate every time he opens his mouth.

My co-worker is the most liberal woman who ever lived! And she likes Ron Paul. My mother is a Democrat, but loves Ron Paul the person as well.

This video is a classic. Still one of the best, IMHO.

That one quote kills me, talking about how it's time we voted for Ron Paul, the person and dropped all the political labels.

End the Mandate would be popular. End the Fed is Ron Paul's signature issue (or one of them). Most Republicans would want to get out front of End the Mandate.

I have a feeling End the Mandate could propel him to the front. We need to push this just as hard as End the Fed. The sheep within the GOP will understand End the Mandate better.

Awesome day. :)

Besides being the one candidate whom I agree with the most, I like that he is not a lawyer. I think people should be very concerned with the respect the MSM give this man. It should be a clear indication that the majority of this country probably agree with him.

Also, think about this. In the last three days, Ron Paul lost to Romney by one vote in the SRLC straw poll and got more publicity, A very very timely and favorable Rasmussen Poll is released, Drudge screams it to the rest of the world, Bunning endorses Rand, and tomorrow, Ron is about to wake up even MORE people at the tea party rally with END THE MANDATE! We are on a roll!

But I think we need to anticipate what will be thrown our way. We MUST have a website that debunks all of the myths about RP and how most corporate media sources and personnel do their best to distort and spin his message. The sooner, the better.

A lot of people are confusing (or wrongly equating) the Rasmussen poll that measured Paul vs Obama and the other poll which measured other Republicans vs Obama.

Apples vs Oranges.

Rasmussen is a Republican Pollster. Rasmussen polls show Obama with higher unfavorables than other pollsters do. Long before it really matters, before the 2012 race starts to take shape, these will be old polls.

It's a great poll, no doubt, happy to see it, but it doesn't mean that Paul is the strongest Republican against Obama. We'd need to see one poll that measures Paul vs Obama and other Republicans vs Obama - same time same people.

CPAC, SRLC, now this. No where for Republicans leaders to hide now. Paul polls better against the president than any of the GOP rivals, so there's no way to call him marginal anymore. If Paul is virtually tied with Obama now, before any campaign has started, he will annihilate him in election season. O frabjous day, Callooh, Callay!

Democrats have no doubt been put on horrified notice given this news, and must have had a Sauron moment just now---all this while they've focused on beating up a vulnerable Palin outside the gates of Mordor, only to realize that Paul has reached the Crack of Doom! Dems will be cranking up a demonization campaign against him big time, watch out.

Lately, I've been having the thought about what happens when/if Paul wraps up winning the GOP nomination battle in 2012---will he then get pistol whipped into making Romney or Palin (or Jeb Bush) his running mate, as the establishment forced Reagan into choosing Bush in 1980? If he doesn't, will the Rockefeller/countryclub/neocon Republicans walk out of the convention, as they did to Goldwater in 1964?

That looks awsome. I'll put 'em on my favorites and ponder my options later tonight or tomorrow. We're having friends over to grill in a few minutes. :)

Cool. I went ahead and called, will be meeting with the owner this weekend with some samples. Great chance to remind him that RP's popularity is exploding :)

Hope to have a design or two next week with some bulk options - but the 'make your own' 4/$10 + $2.95 shipping is considerably cheaper than Zazzle as is.

HA!

I told you fools that Drudge has always been a Paul guy.

If it was Paul vs Obama - Person C is a likely Paul vote. Persons A and B likely Obama votes.

And if Person C really wanted to argue the facts, do a little research, that person would point out that those are separate polls. Rasmussens numbers on Obama are usually lower than other polling organizations.

Reactions from two of my co-workers.

Persons A and B - Huge Obama supporters. They were happy that Ron Paul polled so well against Obama when I told them. Both said they're sick of the wars and that they like "some of his ideas" like "coming home from all over the world" and that "we don't need to be there because we create more terrorists". However, they were concerned that he was pro-life and very anxious about the term "states rights". They also said "The GOP will never let him get close enough, so do you think he will run third party?".

Person C - Huge neo-conservative who was a pretty big McCain supporter after being dissatisfied with choices provided during 2008 Primary. Likely a loyal FoxNews reader, and we engaged in playful banner over RP. In 2008, she indicated national security was her biggest concern, and that RP "blames America". Despite discussions, I could not get her to see it from RP's perspective. Today, I told her that every other GOP candidate is crushed by 10% while RP brings Obama all the way down to 42%. She said "that's sad" but then was obviously thinking and seemed puzzled by the fact that only RP could defeat Obama according to the slew of recent polls. I said "I know you're not the world's biggest Paul fan, but the general sentiment of the country is changing, slowly, but surely, and RP would be better than Obama, wouldn't he?". She acknowledged that to be true, and I left it at that.

I think 75% of the neo-conservatives are unconvertible, unfortunately. I would really love to see RP win the GOP nomination, but I just know they'll screw him if he decides to run. What I'm REALLY curious about is how Obama/Biden vs. Romney/Huckabee vs. Paul/VP would turn out, poll-wise. Is the country's mood just right that a third party candidate could win for the first time in modern US history?

GOP, I am fully aboard if Ron Paul and only Ron Paul is the nominee. If anyone else is the nominee, you can guarantee my vote goes elsewhere.
