China Wants to Build a 50 Square Mile City in the US

Foreign investors have been buying up all of the cheap foreclosed properties while the FED is buying up all of the farmland. This country is disappearing at an alarming rate. I'm not sure of what the nationwide statistic is but in Vegas, half of all home sales, this year and last were cash sales by corporations who are buying everything up. Most of these homes are being turned into rental units as they take advantage of the fact that 85% of all homes here are underwater and many people are just giving them up. 65% of all homes here were corporate owned in 2009 and that number is has been rising. Google won't give me an up to date answer. Their software is getting better at flooding the hits with irrelevant nonsense.

It's not fine with me. It's stupid and dangerous as hell to our national defense.

I don't understand why you want to use force to stop people from buying property. Is it because its china. One generation and it will just be a bunch of chinese americans. Let them pump money into my state and build stuff. what the hell does it have to do with you or me?

Would it be that big of a deal if it was canada? Many people around Idaho are pissed but i just don't see the down side of it.

I know you don't and that is alarming in and of itself.

Cool. Dog meat comes to mind:

We used to have laws about selling our land to foreign countries. It is called national defense.

No, it's called a lack of respect for individual property rights.

This story could also be called "China invests in America". If they build us a city, that they can't just pick up and move to China, then they just built us a city on their taxpayers' backs. If they corner the "green market" with cheap solar panels...good. Then I get solar panels cheap on their taxpayers' backs due to subsidies.

Unless they have a 50 sq mi embassy which isn't apart of our nation (in terms of sovereignty), and not subject to our laws, then this is a free city. Stop being against free trade and individual property rights. My property is mine, and I can sell it or buy it from anyone I choose who voluntary does so with me. I can hire or fire who I like at any voluntary price we agree to. None of your nationalism is rationalizing away your disrespect for my Constitutional property rights. You cannot be a "fair trader" without trampling property rights. END OF STORY, logically speaking.

Be a free market capitalist, not a protectionist. Be a patriot, not a nationalist. Be for free trade, not failed economic collectivist nonsense. Be for property rights, not whatever the collective thinks serves their BS collective interests at my rights' expense.

Doesn't it bother you no free market capitalists are for your view of trade, but lefties cheerlead "fair trade"? You agree with liberal statists on this issue! Wake up!

I hate to tell you, but you don't have any Constitutional rights to sell your land to a foreign government, or an illegal alien, for that matter.

You may not realize it, but what you are promoting is globalism. I want no part of it. I believe in having national sovereignty and last time I checked, so did Ron Paul.

Be a free market capitalist, not a protectionist.
I had always been, but like I have said before, I saw what NAFTA, CATFA, etc. did to our jobs here. Perot was right about the giant sucking sound. I realize they aren't true free trade agreements, but I don't see how that would have changed the outcome. I'm open on this, but I don't see it at this time. I am also quite concerned about the trade imbalance.

I'm all for philosophy, but I am also going to look at the outcome. So, you are going to have to speak to me in terms of results. I don't want America to become a 3rd world country and that is what I see happening and it's not all because of the FED.

Be a patriot, not a nationalist.
ROFL. I know I am a patriot. I am however not so sure about you. How about you care about keeping those rights you are so fond of pontificating about. If we do not have a sovereign nation and get back to Americans understanding the principles upon which this country was founded. Individual liberty, rugged individualism, etc., this new little experiment in freedom is going to be all over. Being a patriot does not mean being willing to sell out your country for globalism, even if it means you will be able to line your pockets with some more change. THAT is not a patriot at all.

Be for free trade, not failed economic collectivist nonsense. Be for property rights, not whatever the collective thinks serves their BS collective interests at my rights' expense.
Oh, I'm for property rights. Sell your land all day long to any American you want. That however still does not mean that it's ok for you to sell your land to foreign governments or illegal aliens. So sorry. :)

Your property rights end when it infringes on my right to be free from an authoritarian government even worse than ours.

My fucking god, we are doing everything we can to throw off collectivist authoritarians that are infesting every level of our own government and you want to open the doors to a bunch of foreign ones as well???

I'm sorry if I'm not willing to be thrown in a gulag just so you can make a fast buck.

Is it because it is China? Yes, it is an evil state whose crimes against it people dwarfs even this countries crime. It is an utter nemesis to liberty, freedom and property-rights.

Would it be that big of a deal if it was canada? Yes, "special economic zone" means cronies have been $$$ paid off, and equal protection under the law has been pissed on yet again.

You obviously didn't read the story, they want to buld the city, then populate it entirely with Chinese citizens, and yes it makes it sound like it would then become Chinese sovereign soil, as all those people would not be subject to US immigration laws and would not intend to become American citizens (as far as China hopes), and who knows what else. I bet there are thousands legal nightmares that would arise from this.

Sounds like it is time to buy some more ammunition, made in America of course.

I'm thinking somewhat like the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

I keep thinking that one day in the far future erowe1 and many others will grow up and wake up, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope at this point.
