Why Donald Trump Is Leading the Pack

I don't.

I want people around here to stop navel gazing about what's happening in the media and pay attention to the big picture. It's really getting crazy, and this forum has turned into a ghost town.

That tends to happen every summer and even moreso in a non-election year. <shrug!>

Possibly because - with some exceptions, one which I already mentioned - we don't think they're stupid

Rand? Nope, he's too weak on immigration, or then again, maybe he isn't, I guess it depends how the wind is blowing this week. His dad said it best - "If you don't have a border, you don't have a country". At least Ron told you what he thought regardless of what the polls said.
Lmao Rand Paul is stronger on immigration than Trump. What the heck is wrong with you people? Have you all been zombie brainwashed? Donald Trump is Team Red's Obama. Drawing a crowd of drooling zombies with every empty platitude. This dingbat could get elected, import another 30 million illegals in his own trains trucks and aircraft, and y'all would still be slobbering at his feet how he is 'tough on immigration' because you like the words he uses to describe it.

Yup. Team Red's Obama that is drawing the ire of every major GOP Donor east of the Mississippi.

Other than making fun of neocons and taking up media time, what exactly is Trump doing to upend the establishment? Does he have campaigns in early primary states? Is he buying ads? Is he disrupting the establishment's fundraising? The answers to the questions could be yes, but I really don't know.

Just like Obama he's turning people into mindless zombies who quiver at the very sound of his voice. Trump is about as unprincipled as it gets. How in the actual fk are alleged Ron Paul supporters slobbering after the guy who called Ron Paul a 'joke?'

Who says anyone is slobbering over him? I don't think he's the answer for one second, but here is why I'm glad he's around and stays around:

1. Whether he is genuine or not, he speaks about things no one else will dare to like immigration and John McCain being a POS.

2. After getting caught saying something "offensive", unlike all the other gutless cowards he doesn't go around groveling and begging forgiveness for things he said that happened to be true.

3. He is changing the dialogue, he is telling all the PC Nazi's to go to hell, he insulted McCain and even still the military worshiping voters didn't turn on him, and all that can't be a bad thing.

I'm a veteran. I think McCain is a traitorous piece of shit who needs to be tried for treason and hanged on Washington Mall. That doesn't mean I like Trump. He is an unprincipled windbag. His main advantage is that he can afford to buy superb opinion polls outside of required reporting campaign funds. He's just telling people whatever they want to hear. Such behavior should not be rewarded.

1. Whether he is genuine or not, he speaks about things no one else will dare to like immigration...

Trump is to the left of Romney on immigration.

He opposes self-deportation and favors a pathway to citizenship.

and John McCain being a POS.

Yes, a crucial issue facing the nation...

I don't operate that way. I have never operated that way. I will never operate that way. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is inch deep thinking. The enemy of my enemy can be used as a tool or a weapon, but he is no less my enemy simply because he hates the right people. This kind of thinking almost got the planet destroyed in a nuclear holocaust on account of allying with the Soviets against the Nazis. Will the human race never learn the lesson of repeating the mistakes of history?

Again you misunderstand, I don't care his motives, he saying things that need to be said and not backing down. He may be "right for the wrong reasons" as the saying goes, but what do I care as long as it gets people out of their trance and talking about things they weren't before.

He's leading the pack because the media eats Trump up like cake and shits everything he says out everywhere simply because it's schoolyard beef talk that people love.

That's why the assholes get popular is because they're funny and some of what they say is true. Is Trump wrong about most of the GOP contenders? No.

But has he actually said many things of substance about himself or others? No.

All show. No substance. Trump is a loser. Bingo.

Do you have any evidence that this man's psychopathy is 'getting people out of their trance?' Because it looks to me like it's shoving them deeper into it, and taking some people who were already awake and drawing them into that same trance.

At the very least I think Trump is proving that Rand is running his campaign all the wrong ways. I will absolutely vote for Rand but he would have been wise to just carry his father's torch than try to play politics to win. Bernie Sanders is getting the youth in large part because he's as strictly anti-war as Ron was and The Donald is getting the ever growing segment of Americans who want REAL CHANGE because he isn't afraid to have a real opinion on things - no matter how misplaced it may be - and even though the Donald is a blow hard ignoramus he can essentially finance himself and do whatever he wants if he wins - that gives him the Rebel image Rand has lost and not attempted to take back.

Rand has got to dominate the first debate because right now his campaign has 0 momentum.

Bernie Sanders is getting the youth in large part because he's as strictly anti-war as Ron was....

Lest we forget, Sanders is running in the Democratic party: it's a lot easier to be anti-war there.

If Rand were running on Ron's foreign policy right now in the GOP, he'd be polling much worse, raising much less money, etc.

For a while it was looking like there might be a shift underway in the GOP, but then ISIS happened and that got shot to hell. Sentiment may change again in the future, but for the moment it's political suicide to go any further in the anti-war direction than Rand already has. There's no alternative, unless you want to run in the Dem Party; then you can be as anti-war as you please, but you'll also have to totally endorse the welfare state, the regulatory state, the assorted minority group crusades, climate change..

Thems the facts.

An unprincipled person that tells people what they want to hear to get votes...the same thing could be said of Rand Paul. So only Rand Paul can lie about his positions because he's "playing a game", but nobody else is allowed to play the game?

Hi, welcome to the forum, since you've never heard of Rand Paul, I suggest taking a look around to learn about him and his positions.

Advice: If you see a green dot next to my name, don't try to school people on the forum.

You make a valid observation.

If we accept the premise that it's ok to lie our way into power, then we can just assume everyone is benevolent and simply is waiting till they acquire enough power to finally let us in on the game.

No, indeed. We must judge a tree by its fruits, not its intentions and evangelizing.

Keep speaking the truth at all times and to all people. You will be hated for it, like Jesus was, but it's worth it. And it sets and example of courage for others to follow.
