Ron's strength is that he gets people to think. He wants people to wake up not just be swayed by rhetorical flourishes. When Ron says something that might make some of us cringe, the result is always the same. The issue gets debated. When that happens, although it might take awhile, Ron Paul and liberty always win the argument.

He doesn't have to change his principles one iota to answer that question better. We like Ron because of what he believes. But he is not an effective communicator. And you had better believe this will be question one in the debate on Fox. If he answers the same way, you will see his support in SC cut in half over night. Doug Wead or Rand had better prep him a little better than he showed today.

No, that's wrong completely, Paul has to avoid the blame America road entirely. Iran knows Israel did it and Ron Paul should also say that Israel was behind it but his best answer would be, "I won't interfere with Israel's right to defend themselves so if they took out this scientist because they are worried about Iran's nuclear development then it is none of our business."

He takes umbrage when anyone tries to give him cogent answer to use that embody his principles. And it's a weakness. Everyone has them. So does our hero.

No, that's not true, some of his comments were even more dangerous than ever before, saying that the murder of the Iranian scientist was "terrorism" and suggesting that we should sympathize with them over that because we are against terrorism, that was God awful and it plays horribly with the Fox crowd. Fox viewers cheer at the deaths of Iranian nuclear scientists because most Republicans don't want Iran to get a nuclear weapon.

No one ever said it was ok for him to change his principals. Yes we all support him, but look at the results from the primaries - he is not doing well with the television demographic which he needs to win. He still does not understand the soundbite system. 30 seconds is not enough time to give a history lesson. He needs to answer their question the way they presented it. Her question, in so many words, was "will you defend this country." His answer should have been "yes, if I am authorized by congress to act I will, I will win and then come home." Do you see the difference? That is still his message and has always been, but that will be presented favorably in a sound bite. The soundbite will lead to interest then they will do their own research. I agree with what he said, but the manner in which he said it and the way it is going to be regurgitated by the media will be done to make him sound weak. Ron needs the television news demographic, so he needs to start framing his message for that audience and the soundbite media which pays attention to it. It is that simple.

I get the feeling there is a stubborn refusal on his part to take any coaching on talking points. At his core he's a simple guy, almost to the point of eccentricity, and I can respect why he's the way he is. But it's frustrating, nonetheless.

The truth doesn't matter with most Republicans, they think it is liberal to view issues from the enemy's point of view. You should see how my parents reacted when I first talked about the U.S. oil embargo on Japan in the Summer of 1941 and how it led to Pearl Harbor, they thought I was crazy and hated America.

Agreed, Dr. Paul didn't say to get involved in any of it. But he is correct in pointing out that whoever perpetrated the act is a terrorist.

We don't want to be another Santorum. The GOP already has him as the resident psychopath that thinks dead scientists are 'wonderful'. And...RP didn't say 'sympathize'...he said 'empathize'.

Nothing wrong with telling the truth. It IS terrorism and somebody should expect blowback from this. RP did a great job of pointing out how these assassinations undermine the dissidents in Iran and unites them behind the regime, thereby hurting our interests there.
