Fox is not evil. He campaigned on a libertarian platform and won. He couldn't follow through with most things because the majority of the Mexican Congress was divided between the dinosaur Priistas, the socialistic Perredistas, and the faction of Panistas that is authoritarian.

His talk of integrating NA and the immigration issue were the only really negative things about him.

Keep in mind also that he was threatened with his life over signing a bill that would have legalized drugs in Mexico. That is why he vetoed it at the last minute...even though a few days before he said he would sign it.

I like Fox....but I hate his support for a NAU. As an idealist I think he believed that he would be able to steer it into a libertarian direction....including the free movement of peoples.


No Fox hating please. Feel free to shit on Carlos Salinas Gortiari and Felipe Calderon. They are the evil proponents of the NAU!

Individualism isn't selfish - it's a necessary part of being human. I bet you can't find one psychologist who would tell you it's better to give up completely to authority and take no personal meaning from the world.

They are probably not viewed as negative by those that voted for him, so in that respect, he's probably done a top-notch job.

This is such a dumb thing.

They confront him in a public meeting with probably the most lopsided question they could give him. What they should have done is ask him plainly about the idea of a North American Union and implementing that through the SPP and NAFTA. Instead they talk about some existing plan they have no proof of and talk about doing it without public approval. They come as wackos and then they talk to him when there's hardly anyone and only after a long time of confrontational language do they actually get to a calm reasonable question.
