This is excellent. When Dave Smith is on-point, he is so on-point:

I remember uh Constantin Cassin saying this ... Hey, look you know one of the worst or maybe even the worst parts of woke leftism is that you could trigger the response of some crazy shit on the right. And I certainly made that prediction, too. I'm I'm sure you did. I'm sure you know, it was a very easy prediction to make. I made it on Rogan's podcast. It was like a viral video where I said, "Every time I see a tranny giving a lap dance to an 8-year-old, my first thought is "What the fuck, we got to start killing these people." I mean, not literally, that's a joke. And then my second thought is we're going to live under a right-wing dictator in a few years, you know. But everybody kind of saw this coming and then when when it starts coming, they all react like it's something they couldn't have possibly foreseen, and where is this coming from? So, it's always just been strange to me that they didn't have the reaction of like, okay, yep, this is exactly what we thought was going to happen. Let's talk about all of this. Instead, it's like they have the same attitude the woke left had with those guys and just want to cancel and ruin all of them. How's that going to help anything?

I grew up in a milieu that the Left does not comprehend. They think they "get it". They don't. They think they've got a bead on the far-right. They don't. They imagine themselves studying "right-wing wackos" like lab rats. That's not what's happening. Never was. The actual extreme right-wing knows how the Left views them, and doesn't care. They don't care, because they know it doesn't matter. All of these weird leftist obsessions with "studying right-wing religious extremism" in order to "put an end to the benighted superstitions of the past" through the light of modernism, or whatever, is just mental masturbation, it's accomplishing literally nothing. And latent within this dynamic is the potential of rousing the monster of unapologetic authoritarianism. That's the only real difference between left-authoritarianism and right-authoritarianism. Left-authoritarianism is delivered with a smile and seemingly kind/polite words. Right-authoritarianism makes no pretense -- yes, this is jackbooted authority, what of it? Of the two, I prefer to fight left-authoritarians because the reality is that they are actually cowards... in their hearts, they wish they could be as unabashed as Nazis. But they can't muster the physical courage required for simple, personal brutality. So they are cowards in respect to their own desires and shrink back from the full measure of authoritarianism. But in their libidinal frustration at being unable to satiate their appetite for authority, they resort to poking the bear of right-wing authoritarianism, whether out of boredom or desires for self-harm, or who knows what.

THAT behavior, more than anything else, is what Dave Smith is calling out here, and needs to keep being called out. I'll state it even more bluntly than Dave: you're baiting the wrath of God but dammit, I live in the same country. So cut it out! If you want to call down the heavenly thunderbolt on your own head go move somewhere else and do that. Don't do it here. And anyone who pretends that this is benighted religious superstition is an idiot who hasn't read a single word of history. Go read a history book, for once, and understand how all the great tyrannies of the past came into being. They ALL begin on the very same pattern -- hard times create strong men, strong men create a young empire, the young empire flourishes and breeds weakness and perversion, then the culture of the aging empire wheels out of control and then the Mongol horde invades and spreads bubonic rat-fleas in your population and you all die of the plague. Stop toying with the wrath of God. Or, if you must commit cosmic-suicide, go do it in some other country. THAT is my "extremism". Simple self-preservation, nothing more. And the Woke Left wants to try to twist my simple self-preservation into some weird fetish for theocracy. If you think I'm a theocrat, you're an idiot and you literally do not comprehend the first thing about what you're even trying to criticize. In baiting the rage of the authoritarian right, the Left proves that they have no idea the fire they're playing with. Cut it out because I don't want to burn with you! Go live out your self-immolation fantasy by yourself and leave me out of it!
