URGENT * DEADLINE 7/28 MIDNIGHT* Grassroots Talent Needed for FULL PAGE Iowa ad

By tomorrow noon PST I can put together suggested 'The only Conservative who can win' language with citations, and ' The 'Overview of Ron Paul's economic plan' , if no one else does before. I'm just about to get pulled into some other projects now.

I am going to work on an idea tonight. However, I think that it is going to be difficult to capture the soul of the Ames Ad in 2007. The designs posted so far are well done but I think they lack the character and soul of the former collage/mosaic ad. We need to do our best to be thinking out of the box on this one, myself included.

I like this a lot. Is this landscape version the right size and layout for a full-page ad, though? Maybe further detailed talking points could be added below it.

I believe the message "the only republican that can beat Obama" is the perfect message, and any additional text should be in support of that statement.
I don't mean to sound like an ass, but if substance matters in politics, why do Bachman and Palin have so much support?

eb

Because they are good looking and sound fresh. So we have to show substance to combat that. There are reasons we think a 75 year old candidate who gets really in depth on questions is hands down the best candidate, but a good look doesn't go near those reasons. We definitely want the look TOO, but people have concerns about him from spin and this is the time to correct them, and that requires substance.

I like the minimalist one. Don't want it too busy.

Some points to consider - only candidate to have served in the military and received double the campaign contributions of all GOP candidates combined from active duty military last quarter.

If less is more on the text how about one being

Ron Paul is the only Conservative who can beat Obama

Then just a list of some of the polls, nothing else?

But I think while it might LOOK better without text, I don't think it will sway minds nearly as much. I do think his economic plan needs to get out there.

I really like these suggestions.

I know I'm jumping in late, but I would focus on current events and success, then lay down the bottom line, very much like the Conviction ad that worked so well.

Quote the Rasumssen report. Mention the endorsement by Cory Adams. Format the thing kind of like a movie poster, with the text and quotes around the sides - Paul in center. At the bottom, wrap it up by mentioning Paul's 40 year unwavering dedication to liberty. "never voted for unbalanced budget" "never voted for tax increase". Then his prominent logo.

Those are my quick thoughts.

Conservative, I really think is much better than Republican particularly since Romney is the only one who beats him in some of these polls -- yet Romney is a Republican.

agreed.

I think conservatives will get the double meaning rather well. An "inside joke" so to speak.

if you want a little more text...

The only Republican who has never voted to raise taxes.
The only Republican who predicted the financial collapse.
The only Republican who served in the military.

The only Conservative who can beat Obama.

i like using "Republican" 3 times and then hitting them with "Conservative" because it implies the other candidates aren't as conservative as Dr. Paul.

and the grey looks nice, sophisticated, but it needs more color. Blue perhaps.

That's pretty good.

Much better, although Rasmussen is spelled wrong and the black bar at the bottom should probably be completely flush with the bottom of the ad.

I definitely like the idea of taking a minimalist approach with this ad, but don't wonder if we can't do something even more edgy that will have a bigger impact.

YaY, I can stop bitching about the elbow now :D

re: Nate, Candidate might be more appropriate than Republican in this context as several Republican's have served in the military but none who are running for prez.

totally right.

The only Congressman who has never voted to raise taxes.
The only Republican who predicted the financial collapse.
The only Presidential candidate who served in the military.

The only Conservative who can beat Obama.
