URGENT * DEADLINE 7/28 MIDNIGHT* Grassroots Talent Needed for FULL PAGE Iowa ad

alright, from reading this thread these are a couple things that the OP might want to include/highlight

1. Statement of faith - we need the christian conservatives on board.

2. plan for entitlements - Ron sets himself apart from the crown since he will cut overseas spending and not entitlements

3. voting record - this is something none of the others can compare to. Bachmann voted for TARP and Ron didn't. This should help with the fiscal con's

4. delivered 4000 babies - this is a pretty big deal. Even if it is appealing to emotion a bit, I think Iowan GOP'ers are pretty pro-life and i'm sure there are a good number of single-issue voters.

5. The only guy who can beat Obama - from my experience talking to Iowan GOP'ers this is one of most Iowan voters top two issues, you should definitely show some polling that shows Paul close to Obama in head to head matchup and his numbers with independents. This will be a big turn on to most Iowans.

I like this trey...

Didn't it basically say he does not want his faith used for political purposes?

Also, is it 10" wide or 7.5" wide?

it says he doesnt use his faith for political purposes, and we're not really doing that i don't believe. We're not really pandering, we're just putting his statement of faith out in the open which Ron has already done. I think he wouldn't approve if we plastered really cliche sayings and make it overly religious, something like "Ron Paul is Jesus approved" would be more along the lines of something that would upset him, in my opinion.

In my thread about a possible Ames Ad 2 I thought it would be good to use a collage of images that show Ron Paul as a Family man, Grandparent, military, doctor, and so forth. then the text can highlight his history in relation to understanding current events.

Romulus,

this is what I received in an email by the advertising consultant who is handling this account at the paper.

Our tab section will publish August 9 and the deadline to reserve space is July 29.
All ad prices include full color.
Full page is (10" x 9.5") - correction made.

It was always 9.5 - I was sent incorrect info.

good list. To wrap it all up, I think the theme should be one of Trust.

Lots of great input on this so far. I think I agree that showing Ron Paul stands out from the crowd and is cut from a different cloth is a good idea. In light of that, it would probably be valuable to mention his consistency and honesty during his 30 some years in congress.

I have a few ideas brewing and will kick them around and share a few once I have narrowed it down to something more exact. Whatever the case we should try to settle on a clear vision for the Ad and then have every able bodied designer collaborate on that vision to make sure it is something special.

I would not refer to social security and medicare as entitlements I would really put all that under the heading of 'debt reduction plan' or 'economic plan' since it also would let the young opt out, would reduce milatarism, would return control of education to localities etc etc. I think that is a much more positive way to address it. Then bold the social security / medicare / opt out/ foodstamps bit.

Does anyone have a transcript of the PBS interview? Because I think it is dangerous to paraphrase him on issues this sensitive to people.

Where are the ads being submitted? I decided to do a minimalist Ad design. I always think of how well Obama did in 2008 with saying the minimal amount. Plus, it's the style I like to design in.

That LOOKS fantastic, but I wonder if we don't need a balance between looks and substantive text... maybe something like that with three or four 'vacant' rectangles to fill with text on top issues...? Don't know how it would look....

I could see something like that as a header but Ron has a lot of 'spin' against him -- Obama wasn't saying anything substantive as a candidate anyhow....

JK.

But would that translate into a banner or a water mark (don't know if you can do watermark's on newspaper ads?) For a full page ad, I do think we should at least get his 'next steps' plan out there....

Nice start.... I would like to nominate your logo them or some variation of it as sort of an "official grassroots" logo for the people from this forum. It is different from the campaigns and still pretty elegant and pretty professional looking and modern. Anyone else like the idea?

This IS SO beautiful. One of absolute favorites. And yes it is short and sweet AND we could add info too.

This pic would not take up all the space would it?

Remember - This is a full page COLOR ad.

"Ron Paul is the only Conservative who can beat Obama"

(polling data) is one block of text I'd have (since Romney is no conservative.) The polling often has Romney first though, so I think we need to say 'Conservative' not 'Republican'

Couldn't it be in a square exactly that size surrounded by floating rectangles of text or something?
