Greetings in Liberty from Iowa. Although I have not made it home from a long, exhausting but exciting day, I could not wait any longer to post the great news, thus after a fine dinner with some good Ron Paul supporters, I am taking this opportunity to update everyone with what is happening on the ground.

First, as most will know, Ron was in town today to open the new Campaign Office. It is a small but professional office, which will have four paid field staff, who are all young, talented and ambitious.

Nothing I post here will be considered confidential as a full compliment of media and two dozen supporters were present for much of the event. What information that is unsaid, but implied, will not be posted, although I am free to share and discuss it with any supporters I know and any local volunteers, even if they come from another state.

I trust that is clear enough for most. For those who do not understand; sorry.

First, here are some pictures, as I am not at home, I am unable to reduce them in size enough to not mess up the forums, so they are direct links not embedded.

I spoke with national staff who were already aware of the 527 PAC plans and they shared some information both public and private. The public details follow: Ron Paul directly said our goal in Iowa is 1st. To win. And they are committed to that, much more seriously than previously. Much of this is due to our efforts and the attention being generated from the grassroots, here on this site, and many other sources, including grassroots leaders in other states who strongly encouraged an Iowa first strategy.

I can say with absolute certainty three things: We still need to proceed with our PAC and were strongly encouraged to do so. We will need fewer buses and tickets than planned. How many fewer is not for public posting, but fewer is the word. The Campaign is going to commit "a significant portion" of the “Ready Ames Fire” money bomb directly to “Tickets and Buses”. The media was taking note and the words “Potential Frontrunner” were used more than a few times.

I cannot stress enough how many times Ron directly said this was about winning not making a point. He said he’d been educating people on this for 20 years and now we are going to do something about it. This is a serious level of commitment from national. They have asked our efforts to focus more on the housing and grassroots staffing for the Ames/Bus effort and I said we would do exactly that.

As such, both websites will remain and we will sign up riders, while both the grassroots and the campaign will make locations for both buses and supporter needs, publicly known. It will be a mutual effort without the need or risk of an actual coordination of any kind. The campaign is going to be utilizing the grassroots for turnout and they will be doing more of the recruitment and heavier lifting.

Buses and tickets therefore, become our secondary goal, and a supportive role, as our primary role becomes the grassroots: Bus leaders, training, housing, food, the entire logistics of 500+ activists on the ground for many days and weeks, leading up to the August event and then through the caucus. Our full plan will be available in a week or two as we redefine needs and work through the logistics of actually managing a vast network of volunteers over a significant timeline.

Fundrasing for our operation will come more from larger maxed out donors than smaller donations, as the Ames money bomb will determine the percent the campaign is going to commit for tickets and buses. So, you are strongly encouraged to donate as much as possible to that effort. Whatever they are short, and I do know those target numbers, I promised we would pick up the remainder. We will then execute the mobilization of the masses on the ground.

Our plan is therefore to have a large housing facility and to supply it with all the needs volunteers will have. We will have internships and some limited staffing opportunities. We are going to be the workers on the ground. Long hours, but very fun and a memory of how we saved this Republic when we win. We will need team leaders, field workers, bus captains, and general event staff. Workers, planners and leaders.

Expect a July start date. Do not expect many more details until we have this planned out. If you would like to be a part of the leadership team, if you have time and skills, if you plan to be in Iowa and can stay for some period of time, please send me contact information by email or message. You may email me or facebook friend me, by searching for first dot last at g mail. I do not put a link because of spambots.

I sincerely wish to hear from anyone who wishes or plans to be here in Iowa on the ground and helping us out, my information is all public now and national is fully aware of the plan, my involvement with it, and with some clear direction, complete understanding and firm slap on the back, we are full steam ahead.

Craig Bergman

Sounds exciting, thanks for the news. :)

This is fantastic(!!), and it matches what I would expect from a HQ that wants to win.

Good work Craig! Thanks for the report.

Some media from announcing HQ in Ankeny, Iowa

What can we do if we can't go to Iowa?

As the old question goes, "What can you do"? And by that I mean two things, I don't know right now, and what in your experience would you like to do or feel needs doing which can be done from afar? Open for any ideas. I know you helped in a Liberty House in NH, so I assume you have a good "do and do not" list?

I have two plans:
1) Keep working hard, putting in lots of hours*, and contributing lots of cash.
2) Take time off around August 13 and go to Ames to help out.

*100+ hours a week for the last six weeks or so; crazy, but it allowed to me donate a lot more than I anticipated

Ready Ames Fire Moneybomb

Ready, Ames, Fire! on Facebook (created by Ron Paul Moneybomb HQ)

*Note: This date is tentative.

The Ames, Iowa Straw poll is scheduled to take place on August 13, 2011. Because of this, it is imperative to catapult Ron Paul to victory in the straw poll, and defeat his fellow competitors, including Mitt Romney, who won the straw poll in 2007. On July 19, 2011, we will hold an online money bomb in support of Ron Paul for President 2012, with the goal to win the Ames, Iowa straw poll. A money bomb is a 24-hour fundraising event aimed at dramatically increasing funds for a specific candidate. In November 2007, Ron Paul raised more than $4.2 million in a single day. In December 2007, Ron Paul raised the most money in the history of American politics in a single day, raising more than $6 million; a record that still holds strong to this very day. More recently, Ron Paul raised $1 million on May 5, 2011. in a time when most Americans aren't concerned with politics.

Please invite your friends, and tell them that it is essential that we all donate to Ron Paul at RonPaul2012.com on July 19, 2011, in preparation for the Ames, Iowa Straw poll in August 2011.

The money bomb will be held on Ron Paul's official campaign website, which you can find at http://www.RonPaul2012.com/.

I can come down and help for about a week, what date would you recommend I plan for?

We can collectively give ourselves a nice pat on the back, as without our emphasis on the importance of this event, the official campaign would not have put this much stress on the poll. #victory. :D

Great! Preferably the week of Aug. 8th, as the poll is on the 13th, and you could leave that Sunday, the 14th.

Aug 6-13th it is! I'll try my best to drive down with a car full of Minnesota supporters

That is absolutely the best week or weekend. If we had 1,000 volunteers, we would have things for them to do. The few who can stay longer, may come sooner, but not until June, unless you want to do your own housing and activities. Other than doing lunch and talking politics, I will not be prepared to assign meaningful duties before then.

Naw you guys, this plan is too centralized. who is in charge? where is the money going? When is it? Who the F are these Ron Paul campaign people? Does Ron know them? Does Carol know them? Does Rand know them? How much will it cost? Do they take gold or sliver or federal reserve notes as donations? A quick response must be made now!

ayy, stop it! let's hold back on these posts, before we end up with at 49 page thread and nothing productive to show for it.

I'm planning to come. I had to talk to two professors about when their last finals will be -- my university's summer term is split into two halves, and I'm only in the first half now, so I haven't started my Summer B classes and therefore don't have syllabuses or final test dates. I found out that one of my summer B classes will end July 28, and I'm not sure about the other one yet, but I'm hoping it'll be no later than Aug 2 or so. For sure I will be leaving on or before Aug 5, but I'm really hoping to go as early as I can. As soon as I find out that test date, I'll be getting tickets.

Thanks for the OP update. I'm very glad to know that RP and the official campaign plans to strive for 1st place and fight to win.

False Information

I am sorry but the information by Bergman is not correct. No Campaign staff has endorsed, approved or given a green light on what he is talking about.
