Update: Just spoke to bus companies

I think hes trying to say that the purpose of his posts isn't because he isn't on board with the project, but the opposite, he is down with the project, but has had too many questions unanswered and some outright dishonesty and snarkiness to trust anyone involved at this point.

It seems to me like the organizers are too lazy to justify themselves, as evidenced by continually not responding to carefully reasoned comments or responding to mountains of evidence with quickly laid emotional appeals.

The organizers have also asked others to do their work for them in digging up questions they irresponsibly left unanswered.

If this is any indication, it looks to me like they do not qualify as potential leaders of a plan of action.

Meetup leaders and those who have already been mentioned in this thread would be where I would start - but I don't presume to plan for Iowans from afar.

I'm from Iowa. Just FYI Pottawattamie county is having a Ron Paul Meetup may 21st. If out of state RP supporters set up a PAC and some busses it would be awesome.



Robo calling the whole state with 5 liberty oriented questions to identify RP supporters sounds like an outstanding idea. Then out of state volunteers can phone bank and follow up on the possible supporters with a personal phone call. After that, distribute any remaining potential supporters to the local Meetups for canvassing and follow up. Out of staters setup and coordinate the buses with the Meetups and also plan and donate to the entertainment/tickets etc for the willing voters.

Not quite, I have serious problems with the basic premise of the project itself - it involves the effective nature of decentralization and the relative dangers of centralization.

One-size-fits-all is the mantra of bureaucrats - inefficiency. Leading by example, 'all politics are local', letting people make decisions for themselves - these are the things our grassroots has a history of showing are more effective and moral.

This plan does not understand the nature of the world.

I'm sure there's a happy medium and/or a way for the two to go hand in hand.

10,000 individual Ron Paul supporters arriving in their own cars, one by one is better than all of them arriving in buses.

But 10,000 individual Ron Paul supporters arriving in buses paid for and organized by some among those 10,000 is better than having 1,000 arriving one by one in their own cars.

Coming from a political philosophy where I at one point was fully in favor of the drug war, gun control, and the Iraq War, it's all about letting even the extreme sides in an argument have their say, as it will better allow one to place one's opinion in the full spectrum of ideas. I for one see a gradual increase in the likelihood of this particular project succeeding with each answer that is provided, but those answers likely would not have been provided for days (weeks?) if not for people insisting on getting the answers (even if the answers do not yet satisfy them).
