Trump takes the bait? How will Paul respond?

Rand retweeted this...

@RandPaul on being called spoiled brat: "My kids all work min wage jobs. Do you think Trump kids have been working at the local Pizza Hut?"

Here's an interesting one.

Although most of Rand's statements on Trump last night were accurate, the strategy of Rand burning that bridge is truly mind blowing. He could have rode the anti-establishment wave with him and try to bring the Trump voters back into his fold, instead of what appears to the voter as positioning himself as a voice of the establishment.

Instead of talking about issues important to people last night he focused on attacking Trump to the point of repeating himself. He could have handled it like Huckabee and the others, get it out of the way first and move on to YOUR own campaign.

Rand is not giving the people the red meat they are looking for in these interviews that will send them back over to his campaign. Now he has the anti-establishment front-runner tearing him a new one like he is the Lyndsey Graham of the party.

You make a good point here. Except, instead of bringing in the "anti-establishment" Trump supporters into the fold, Rand has put his foot into the side of the establishment-type voters who were putting Walker and Bush atop the polls. We know Rand can pick up the anti-establishment voters who were never going to vote for Bush or saw through Walker, but now he stands a chance to be recognized by these other establishment-type voters by calling out Donald Trump for his inconsistencies and general emptiness. It's not like Rand is baseless in attacking Trump, he's calling him out for his fake conservatism. Rand is showing ferocity and compassion for his principles and who should be elected as a true conservative, and voters will pick up on that. Isn't this the kind of fight conservative voters want to see in their candidate and want to see take on Hillary?

Rand speaks about the "issues important to people" all the time. He's continuing to push these issues by calling out Donald Trump.

You have to be honest; Donald Trump has been very belligerent, narcissistic, and crude thus far. He's a tough talker, but he's not really saying anything at all, and you know this. He's nowhere near being a libertarian-conservative; and his past proves he won't be. I'd say he's served his purpose in the GOP primary, I don't think he has anything else to offer.

Go after Trump about guns, thats a sure way to make him lose republican support. Rand should push to repeal the NFA

I'm watching CNN & they are showing Trump speaking at his first campaign event since the debate. Not a clip, it looks like they're going to show the entire speech.

WTF...

They've also done at least 2 phone interviews that are 30+ minutes, where they allow him to talk about people who work for other networks, and call them by name.

Who's doing the raping, Donald is, and the media is forcing him down our throats. The 1% who buy off out politicians and control our media. No one wanted to go to Iraq, until the media raped us into it. Now they are raping us with Donald trump aka Clinton as the next president.

The last time CNN did something like this with a candidate was with Sarah Palin. Not so much during the campaign, but I scraped their site from 2009 until 2011-2012 and her name was somewhere on the front page every day. they've actually done the same for Rand around the time he was doing the drone filibuster, i think they had him for 4-6 months until everyone got fired from CNN.

After lastnight, I thought we would be hearing much more about Trump vs. Rand. Rand went all out yesterday to go at Trump, got Trump to attack back, which I assumed is what he was going for, but hasn't really done much today. If he wanted to draw fire from Trump, he got it but hasn't really capitalized on it. Only thing I can find is 1 direct tweet toward Trump and a response about being called a brat. Wasn't sure if it was good for Rand to attack Trump but once he did I figured alright, he was trying to start a feud so he would get more of the spotlight in the media and he would try to do more interviews to respond to Trump like he did with the Christie feud a couple years back. Change of plans maybe? Might be for the best, just seems weird to me that he would go on blasting Trump for a day like that, draw a response from Trump, then nothing else really.

They are measured attacks, certain things they are trying to get the Trump to say. We may not know immediately if they got him (could be material for ads).

Yeah, it's almost like they got scared when they saw Trump went down 9 points in that Rasmussen poll and they needed to do something.

lol, if anyone is "raping", "forcing" Donald Trump on you is the public, because it's the public who increase the ratings. Trump went to three or four Sunday shows, and gave them a lot of ratings, but didn't go to Fox. He threatened to not go to Fox ever again, which would've hurt their ratings, and then Ailes quickly called Trump to smooth things over. He was back today on Hannity, and I'm sure it was great for his ratings.

They know when he's on, there is a high probability he is going to say something they can break with. The interview with Don Lemon is where he said he thing about Megyn Kelly, they had it up in big print practically before the interview was over. Then, all the other press will have to say "in a CNN interview, ..."

Why explain things by supply and demand when you can attribute them to conspiracy?
