Trump Moving to Take Bids on Building the ‘Wall’

I think our border wall should also extend 30+ miles into the Pacific ocean. Same with the Gulf of Mexico - though that gulf does need a new name. Its current name simply won't do.

Most immigrants are coming from China- not Mexico. We need a wall between here and there.

Chinese migration to the United States is a history of two parts: a first wave from the 1850s to 1880s, halted by federal laws restricting Chinese immigration; and a second wave from the late 1970s to the present, following normalization of U.S.-Chinese relations and changes to U.S. and Chinese migration policies. Chinese immigrants are now the third-largest foreign-born group in the United States after Mexicans and Indians, numbering more than 2 million and comprising 5 percent of the overall immigrant population in 2013.

Around half of Chinese immigrants obtain lawful permanent residence in the United States (also known as receiving a “green card”) through family channels. The remainder qualifies through employment-based preferences, or asylee status. Compared to the overall foreign- and native-born populations, Chinese immigrants are more highly educated, more likely to be employed, and have a higher household income.

Immigrants to U.S. From China Top Those From Mexico

SAN DIEGO—Move over, Mexico. When it comes to sending immigrants to the U.S., China and India have taken the lead.

China was the country of origin for 147,000 recent U.S. immigrants in 2013, while Mexico sent just 125,000, according to a Census Bureau study by researcher Eric Jensen and others. India, with 129,000 immigrants, also topped Mexico, though the two countries’ results weren’t statistically different from each other.

For the study, presented last week at the Population Association of America conference in San Diego, researchers analyzed annual immigration data for 2000 to 2013 from the American Community Survey.

The mandatory annual survey conducted by the Census Bureau asks where respondents lived the year before. Researchers counted as an “immigrant” any foreign-born person in the U.S. who said they previously lived abroad, without asking about legal status. (So while the data include undocumented immigrants, it may undercount them.)

A year earlier, in 2012, Mexico and China had been basically tied for top-sending country—with Mexico at 125,000 and China at 124,000.

It isn’t just China and India. Several of the top immigrant-sending countries in 2013 were from Asia, including South Korea, the Philippines and Japan.

For a decade, immigration from China and India, which boast the world’s largest populations, has been rising as increasing numbers move to the U.S. to study, work and unite with families already in the country.

Meanwhile, immigration from Mexico has been declining due to improvements in the Mexican economy and lower Mexican birthrates. More recently, the U.S. recession also reduced illegal immigration from Mexico.

(your link does not take me to any particular article)

Also note that about half of all those in the country illegally entered legally- not by sneaking across the border but by coming in through the front door and staying.

How well did that Berlin Wall thing work out? Were people inside it better off than the ones outside?

Good luck building the wall. Almost every construction project has multitudes of Mexicans working (efficiently, and usually for cheap).

This wall is no good for America. So sad to see the US collapsing all around us.
it is federal, Im sure he intends to use the military to build it

I bought shares in "CEMEX" ticker CX. One of the largest cement produces in North America. They are going to have to pour a lot of it.

What will they be downsizing to offset the billions needed?

With the height and size put giant LED projectors on our side, could always sell advertising space on it to offset costs. Someone doesn't like the new view of the wall? Pay to put some scenic view...

You could lease bar and restaurant , billboard space on it .

Are you an illegal immigrant or something? You sure seem to have a low opinion of the American workforce who pays for the legal and illegal immigrants welfare when they don't work....lol.

Or I work in a top level position at a general contracting company and i see first hand how hard it is to find Americans that are willing to work. It's a fact. Most Americans just want high paying jobs telling other people what to do. But when you hire a crew of Mexicans they work together as a team naturally and efficiently complete any job you assign to them. I'm not racist, but this is my real world assessment. Mexicans lead the world in work ethic and positive attitude. White people say they want to work, but usually balk at it after about 6 months. Black people just simply don't want to work. But at least they are honest about it so idk it's a toss up there.
