Donald Trump advisers were reportedly alarmed recently after the president requested for the Declaration of Independence to be moved into the Oval Office.

According to The Atlantic, the advisers were quick to point out the logistical and economic challenges such a move would pose, especially considering the security measures needed to protect such a document.

The outlet recalled that the original document, displayed in the rotunda at the National Archives Building in Washington D.C., is stored behind heavy glass in an "oxygen-free, argon-filled case that can retract into the wall at night for security." There are even restrictions on how often doors can be opened due to light damage to the parchment.

Trump then focused on potentially moving one of the historical copies of the declaration, rather than the original, relieving aides. "President Trump strongly believes that significant and historic documents that celebrate American history should be shared and put on display," said White House spokesperson Steven Cheung when asked for comment on the matter.

The White House has at least one historical copy of the declaration. The Atlantic highlighted that Trump has shown interest in planning the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the declaration of independence, ordering the creation of "Task Force 250" shortly after taking office.

The "original" lol

Whole thing is as fake as the moon landing never happened

Foreigners supporting terrorism are not covered by the 1stA.
Get over it.

He wasn't charged with any crimes under our laws.

Let's ignore for a moment that Hamas was created, funded and armed by Izrael.

Even from an etiquette perspective, did he actually praise Hamas or simply condemn Izrael?

I don't know about this specific case, but the odds are he did both, including specifically praising the Oct 7th attacks or calling for genocide etc.
That's what all these islamists and leftist do.

Can't wait to see Trump Sign the original declaration with a sharpie. His idea, the whole country was his idea.

Trump reveals his office has added something new.

"Think Joe Biden would do this? I don't think so"

Considering the Declaration wasn't considered a big deal by anyone until Lincoln made it into a religious text, who cares. At this point, it's been used to justify everything from feminism to anti-white DEI practices. Let him drag it wherever he wants.

Lincoln didn't make it a big deal. It inspired 100s of other countries and their own independence from empire.

I challenge you to find any evidence to show that anyone in this country thought it was anything more than a historical artifact prior to Lincoln.

The founding fathers of course. The ones that designed our civilization thought that it was a big deal.

This is simply not true. Please see "American Scripture: Making the Declaration of Independence" by Pauline Maier, "Declaring Independence: Jefferson, Natural Language, and the Culture of Performance" by Jay Fliegelman and "The Creation of the American Republic, 1776-1787" by Gordon S. Wood to see how the Founders most certainly did not venerate this document.

It's literally our founding document of the civilization they created that has inspired 100s of other countries and ended entire Empires that ruled for centuries.

How could you say the founding fathers didn't consider declaring independence significant when their writing says it. It was a revolutionary act.

"Thomas Jefferson wrote to a fellow Virginian reflecting on what he called “the revolution of 1800"...

Jefferson was writing in 1819, far enough after the fact to appreciate its importance."

-H.W Brands

“That was as real a revolution in the principles of our government as that of ’76 was in its form, not effected indeed by the sword, as that, but by the rational and peaceable instrument of reform, the suffrage of the people. The nation declared its will by dismissing functionaries of one principle and electing those of another.”

-Thomas Jefferson
