Trump Moving to Take Bids on Building the ‘Wall’

The estimated final cost of that “Wall” would depend on such factors as terrain, the presence of necessary infrastructure such as roads, and the acquirement of land in the wall’s path. Although neither the Senate nor the House leadership has laid out the details as to how Congress or the Mexican government will pay for the infrastructure, Trump appears to have all the congressional support he needs to start the bidding process to honor his key campaign promise.

Funny comment but probably true...lol :D.

Bids? Hell most of us will show-up and build it for free.

Paul Ryan will make sure we get the funds we need to build this wall. The new Interior Secretary will make sure there are no problems with the pesky landowners who don't want a wall on their property.

What will they be downsizing to offset the billions needed?

With the height and size put giant LED projectors on our side, could always sell advertising space on it to offset costs. Someone doesn't like the new view of the wall? Pay to put some scenic view...

tod evans has mentioned he will build a wall around D.C. if the materials are provided. I will volunteer to join him and throw in $100 in materials.

Who do they think are actually going to do the work? In the southwest, it's usually the people they want to keep out.

Maybe, but I doubt it. I am not making a judgement call on this, but I find it ironic.

Nice pick-up . . .
Bids? Hell most of us will show-up and build it for free. And any Mexican that builds a mile earns citizenship.

Lots of good ideas there . . . NOT having a secure border "costs" us more, and, tax wire transfers to Mexico

Mexican nationals living in the USA send BILLIONS every year to their families in Mexico. Tax these remittances heavily
and the wall pays for itself.. or rather Mexico pays for it.

We should have a poll for how tall the wall needs to be.

I'm thinking 150-200 feet tall, at least.

Though I think a 500 ft tall wall would be awesome. Would be a glorious wall, worthy of the name Great Wall of America

Good luck building the wall. Almost every construction project has multitudes of Mexicans working (efficiently, and usually for cheap).

This wall is no good for America. So sad to see the US collapsing all around us.

How far do you space the turrets?

Before the Mexicans arrived nothing ever got built here using Americans. We were still living in grass huts and businesses were being run out of caves. The insanity of thinking an American can build something!

Also I think we need an underground minefield to prevent tunneling. Great idea, yea?
