If Ron stays with the Republican Party and fails to receive the nomination, which is highly likely at this point, the Ron Paul revolution dies in another month.
Then suppose he does win re-election to Congress for another 2 years. He will go back to being ignored by the rest of the country until he retires. He is 72 years old. Who will take his place?
If this revolution is to continue for years and not days, Ron should announce, sooner than later, that he intends to run as a Libertarian. The LP has ballot access in many states, and Ron has run for the LP before.
Then the LP needs to run a candidate for EVERY congressional race, so that Ron has local grassroots support in every congressional district in the country.
I know many people think he will never win as a third party candidate, and I agree it would be tough to do at this point. But we need to build a party that can compete with the Democrats and Republicans. Every LP campaign should be an effort to build that party so that in 2 years we CAN start winning elections.
In a 3 way race you only need 34% to win, not 51%. And who cares if a Republican or Democrat wins? There is hardly any difference anymore.
