They are dogging RP hard

You've never really lived until you've slit your neighbors throat to prevent an imaginary scenario from occurring. Seriously.

I think he should get his own username title "Neocon you can believe in!"

I like this person way better than those RedState guys, they look like e-scholars when posting compared to this crack pot.

.......of the only pre-Iraq War democracy in the Middle East.

Isn't Palestine a democracy? I seem to recall Arafat being elected in the '90's. (I know it's late - the thought came to me while I was cooking dinner.)

A very good question indeed, dear lady, and I am more than happy to answer it for you.

It is my considered opinion that we do not live in a world where we can simply retract from the policies which have lead us to this time and place, and then pretend that in doing so we have reversed the course upon which we've long sailed. There are ideological views and then there is cold reality, and it is the latter upon which I base my contentions. Would that we could turn back the clock and simply draw to a close the play we see unfolding before us, but unfortunately we cannot.

Suffice it to say that non-interventionism, for all its merits, is a non-starter in this day and age.

You couldn't be more wrong about non-interventionism being a non-starter. I think there may be some confusion about what non-interventionism is. It certainly does not have anything to do with "turning back the clock". Michael Scheuer, best selling author, and former head of the CIA Bin Laden unit disagrees with you. Our horrible foreign policy over the last 50 years or so has caused unintended consequences, aka "blowback".

Take for example what our gov't did in 1953 when it overthrew the Mossadegh and installed the Shah in Iran. The Iranians have resented us ever since. Then in the 1980s we created a monster in Saddam Hussein and backed him up against a war with Iran, and then wonder why he invaded Kuwait. Then, around the same time, we support Bin Laden against the Soviets in Afganistan. Now he's our enemy. These are but a few examples of our shitty foreign policy.

I've got a question for you. If you agree that we should adhere to the Constitution, then how do you feel about Congress NOT declaring war in Iraq, or Viet Nam or Korea for that matter?

Fact is, our military is stationed in over 130 countries. We spend over 700 billion dollars a year on this 'policing' of the world that is NOT constitutional. We don't have the money for this anyway, unless of course, you're okay with the Federal Reserve issueing endless amounts of money into the economy, allowing the gov't to borrow us all into oblivion.

I hope your "cold reality" doesn't include repeating the same foreign policies year after year. You know what they say about repeating the same actions over and over while expecting different results......

That sure was a lot of typing for what I'm sure will either be no response or a half-witted one liner.

Yes, well most of us experienced cognitive dissonance at one time or another. He obviously isn't aware of any of this, or he wouldn't think the way he does about it. How can anyone in their right mind think that our foreign policy should remain as it is? We are hated around the world, and it isn't because we're beautiful.

Perhaps he's going to head to the library and pick up a Chalmers Johnson or Michael Scheuer book but I doubt it. There's a reason why these people hang out on a forum that doesn't allow for a difference of opinion. It's the intellectual equivalent of a 4 year old sticking his fingers in his ears and yelling "NANANANANANA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

HaHa, perhaps. I don't get it either.... a forum that doesn't allow an exchange of ideas. It's almost scary. I can see banning a$$holes who are insulting and only there to cause problems. Lord knows, there are those types in every situation, but come on....they banned me before I ever made a single post, strictly due to the fact that I posted in my profile that I was a Ron Paul supporter.

I know it is private, and they can do whatever they want, but it flies in the face of what our country is supposed to be about - freedom - free exchange of ideas. It is so narrow minded, and prejudiced, and really.....it's unamerican, imo.

Wow! He's more like us than I realized (from his profile). Although there are several here that I VEHEMENTLY disagree with:

"YES WE CAN" elect Barack Obama president, but...

No we can't mention his middle name.

No we can't win the war in Iraq.

No we can't expand oil exploration, drilling or refining.

No we can't build nuclear power plants.

No we can't convert coal to oil.

No we can't extract oil from shale.

No we can't punish companies for knowingly hiring illegal aliens and conspiring with them to commit tax fraud and identity theft on an unprecedented scale.

No we can't build a security fence on our southern border.

No we can't deport people who've entered our country illegally.

No we can't allow a small percentage of social security funds to be held in individual retirement accounts.

No we can't reduce government spending, waste and corruption.

No we can't adopt a less complicated tax system that would help to expand the economy.

No we can't allow medical professionals and their patients to control the healthcare system.

No we can't create a voucher program that would allow millions of poor children to attend schools that are capable of teaching them how to read and write.

No we can't allow parents to be involved in the reproductive decisions of their minor children.

No we can't fund technologically advanced weapons systems for our military.

No we can't thin out our nation's forests in order to prevent massive wildfires from erupting on a regular basis.

No we can't tolerate free speech on talk radio.

No we can't cut off government funding to "artists" who use our money to insult our religious beliefs.

No we can't allow the general public to determine the definition of marriage.

No we can't prevent the government from seizing private property for the purpose of selling it to large corporations which generate greater tax revenues than individuals.

No we can't scrutinize the scientific evidence behind the man-made global warming hypothesis.

No we can't tolerate religious leaders who denounce homosexuality.

No we can't smoke cigarettes on private property.

No we can't outlaw the murder of unborn children.

No we can't allow Christian symbols to be displayed in public squares at Christmas time.

No we can't employ terrorist profiling techniques at airports.

No we can't fire Marxist teachers from institutions of higher learning who spew anti-American rhetoric in class and seek to erode the moral foundation of their students.

No we can't carry handguns for personal protection.

No we can't order foods that contain trans fats at our favorite restaurants.

No we can't stop Iran from building nuclear weapons.

No we can't question the patriotism of neo-communist radicals and terrorist sympathizers.

No we can't impose the death penalty on unrepentant serial killers.

And no we can't remove from office judges who rewrite our Constitution from the bench.

Yes we can vote into the highest public office in the land a completely unqualified liberal activist just because he happens to be half black, but no we can't live as our forebears intended, with limited government interference in our lives, an expectation of equality under the law, and genuine pride in our country. Yes, it's always foreign policy that's the deal-breaker with those-that-must-not-be-named.
