The Myth: Must win 5 States

They would be furious- and rightfully so.

Given all that occurred this year, I would expect to see more states move to bound delegates. If I counted correctly only 9 states award unbound delegates as the bulk of their delegates. My guess is it will be less if not completely done away with in 2016.

Could you imagine the conniptions people on here would be having if Paul had won half a dozen states by this point, and word started to spread that Newt was stacking the delegate process in his favor?

The entire point is that we're playing by their rules. If we ignored their rules, and then Newt did this, yes, we'd be pissed, and then people would be like 'well, you should have read the rules, they did nothing wrong'. So we did read the rules. And we're playing by them. And now people come along and say 'This is unfair, imagine if someone else played by the rules, you'd be pissed!'

Get over it. We're ending these wars, we're bringing back civil liberties, we're fixing the debt crisis, and we're ending the reign of the neo-con... and we're going to follow their rules to do it. If you have a problem with that, cry me a river.

A *few* people would come along and say that Newt played by the rules and did nothing wrong. But the mass majority would say that Newt robbed the winner, and they'd still change the rules to make sure the real winner... well, won. I guarantee you, 100% no-question-about-it guarantee you that they would change the rules rather than literally handing the election over to the Democrats on a silver platter.

Honestly it is a moot point. The probability of Paul going into the RNC with any chance of winning the nomination is so incredibly slim, it is barely worth any discussion. If he had won a couple of contests by this point, it would be a different story.

No what you would do is win the nomination and then massively lose the election and for the next hundred years have the name Paul associated with the most underhand political trick in modern history. The movement would be killed deader than a doornail.
